Chao Yang ordered the imprisonment of the Southern Kingdom envoys in the dungeon.

"What does Royal Sister intend to do with them?" Chao Huang asked, surprised by Chao Yang's decision to simply lock them up.

Chao Yang replied nonchalantly, "Send them back to the Southern Kingdom."

Taken aback, Chao Huang exclaimed, "What? But didn't you say..."

Chao Yang interrupted, dismissively flicking her sleeve. "I was merely intimidating them. Did you actually believe it?" She cast a glance at Chao Huang.

"Well... yes," Chao Huang admitted, blushing. She quickly grasped Chao Yang's sleeve and leaned in. "Royal Sister, you're so cruel! I believed every word!"

"Step back," Chao Yang's expression hardened, her eyes reflecting clear disdain.

Stunned by the look of contempt, Chao Huang felt a pang of sadness. Despite previous cold treatment, this was the first time Chao Yang had shown such emotion towards her.

Noticing Chao Huang's strange expression, Chao Yang pulled away and left the study without another glance.

Chao Yang disliked physical proximity. No one dared approach her without permission. However, Chao Huang... the memory of having her earlobe licked still repulsed her, making Chao Yang particularly averse to Chao Huang's closeness.

"I will depart in two months," Chao Yang paused at the door, looking at Chao Huang and speaking softly. "You should return my jade pendant."

Chao Huang turned away, avoiding Chao Yang's gaze. "Wasn't it a gift from you when we first met?"

She thought to herself, "You never gave me a gift before... and now you're talking about leaving... you never really cared about me." Chao Huang grumbled inwardly.

Chao Yang extended her hand, her tone firm and unyielding. "No, return it. It was a keepsake from my father."

"I refuse!" Chao Huang turned to face Chao Yang, her eyes filled with rare defiance and a hint of grievance, her smile a mixture of stubbornness and reluctance.

If it was in her possession, it belonged to her now!

"Why are you acting so childish again?" Chao Yang retracted her hand, finding Chao Huang's teary eyes somewhat unsettling.

Is she trying to act cute? Chao Yang thought with exasperation. This Crown Princess was not only troublesome but also emotionally fragile. Could she truly lead a nation as Empress?

Chao Huang's temperament was inconsistent—sometimes mischievous, sometimes gentle and elegant, other times pure and lively, and now both childish and stubborn.

"The pendant is meant for my future consort. It's not appropriate for you to keep it," Chao Yang explained, seeing Chao Huang's obstinate demeanor.

Hearing that the pendant was intended for a spouse made Chao Huang even more reluctant to return it. "Royal Sister, how can you be so miserly? I simply like that pendant."

Saying this, she made a move as if to cling to Chao Yang again.

Chao Yang stepped aside, sighing, "Then keep it." She turned away, her expression unchanged, and left gracefully.
