The Mutants (Part. 2)

Sam was walking out towards the basketball court, (Name) on his trail. "you sure this is a good idea? at this rate you'll kill yourself" (Name) opposed to the idea

"Its the only way I can get better, ya heard Dr Reyes....I have to learn to get it under control" Sam said walking towards the large cement slab and putting a harness on

"uh yeah and you have a black eye and a broken arm" (Name) said "(Name), I wanna get better. I do I wanna go home n' if this how I gotta do it......I will" Sam said, the only thing she could see in his eyes was hurt

"fine.... but not to long alright? you need at least one arm" She gave in, hooking the rope to his harness. "Promise" He gave her a small smile

(Name) went to walk off, he grabbed her arm "just....please don't walk into the court....no matter what happens" He said with concern in his eyes "Promise" She nodded giving him a smile as she walked off the court

"alright! you're clear!" She yelled as he nodded, looking himself to make sure she was out of the way before taking off. A little away Rahne stood with Dani "no...I'm one of the good ones, Sam, (Name) and I" Rahne told Dani as they looked to the court

(Name) cringed as Sam hit the ground, "god that's gonna hurt" (Name) said to herself. Rahne and Dani began to walk off Rahne calling towards (Name)

"(Name)! Dinner will be served soon!" She called as (Name) gave a thumbs up back keeping her gaze locked onto the court. Sam stopped a couple moments later, hitting the ground hard as he groaned

"you alright?!" (Name) called, he shakily got to his feet taking the hook off as he nodded "yea Darlin'" He accidently said, cringing as he said it

She chuckled, walking up beside him "Darlin'?" She copied his accent "how hard you hit your head?" She smiled at him

He chuckled, before cringing and holding his head "sure your ok?" She asked generally worried "Yeah I'll be right" He smiled "better get goin' before Reyes gets on our asses" He said taking off the vest and throwing it on the concrete slab before walking off

"and the darling thing....I don't mind it...but I have to now think of something to call you" She teased, nudging his shoulder as he chuckled looking down at her, A small happy smile taking over his features

Rahne and Dani were sitting across from each other, Rahne explaining who everyone was "He grew up in a small town in Kentucky....did really well in school...but he had to drop out to work in the minds with his dad" She said

Dani looked over to were Sam and (Name) sat next to each other, Sam had a book open seemingly reading it to (Name) as she lent on her hand listening to each word

"to help the family and all" Rahn said "Poor guy" Dani said "right? poor guy" Rahne said sadly "what about (Name)? and the whole glasses thing" Dani asked

"Its to do with her mutation....keeps everyone safe you know? I think she's from....California? Not sure what she did while she was there" Rahne explained, Dani watched them for another moment before they both got up

"so are they together?" Dani asked curious "hmm.... no...its obvious they like each other but I don't think they realize it" Rahne simply explained as they walked to give their plates to Roberto

As they passed the table still talking, (Name) had spoke up as Sam was starting a new chapter

"what's this book even about?" (Name) asked "weren't ya listening?" He smiled "I was! its just confusing" (Name) defended "sure Darlin' whatever ya say" He shook his head

The evening Roberto was doing his laundry, Sam sitting on the bench as they talked to each other. The radio playing country music silently in the background

"Dish duty is really trimming down the wardrobe" Roberto complained, Sam looked at him shocked "every time ya shirt gets dirty ya just throw it away?" He asked seeming amused

Roberto looked at him for a couple seconds before grabbing the shirt and passing it to him "here its all yours" He said "cool" Sam smiled at the free shirt

"so you and Medusa huh?" Roberto smirked "what're you talkin' about man?" Sam asked adjusting his hat "Don't act dumb country boy....I heard you calling her Darling" Roberto teases

"I accidently called her that and she didn't mind it" Sam said as Roberto let out a little 'uh huh' "Accidently?" Roberto asked as he folded his clothes

"fine....shes a nice and good lookin' girl" Sam admitted leaning back on the wall "see! I knew it" Roberto smiled proud of himself

Sam smiled to before his smile dropped a little, he fiddled with the thread on his ripped jeans "I just scared....ya know?......of hurtin' her" Sam admitted

Roberto looked down, he nodded "yeah....but you won't Sam...." Roberto reassured him before deciding to change the subject "was it scary....working in the minds?" He asked

Sam looked at him and nodded "yeah...yeah sure" He nodded as they lights turned off. The lights turned back on both boys looking towards the door to see (Name)

"jeez you boys knew I was coming and tried to act like no one was home" (Name) said acting offended. "Jesus that scared me" Sam said "what me or the lights?" (Name) asked already knowing the answer

She walked up beside him, jumping up next to him "no not you darlin'" He playfully rolled his eyes, Roberto giving him a smirk as Sam blushed looking away

"so? what you boys talking about?" She asked "oh Sam was just telling me about the mines" Roberto informed "oh cool" (Name) smiled looking at him, never hearing him talk about it

"you couldn't pay me a million dollars to go in one of those things" Roberto admitted "Neither" (Name) agreed "I couldn't pay either of ya a million dollars anyway" Sam smiled

"when we get out of here, I'll spot both of ya....folks are good for it" Roberto smiled picking up his washing basket. "Night Medusa" Roberto ruffled her hair

She playfully rolled her eyes "you know when I find out your mutation I'm going to think of a great name" She promised as he chuckled "I'll be waiting....night Kentucky" He hit Sams knee

"night man" Sam smiled as Roberto left the room, leaving the two teens sitting next to each other on the wooden table.
