[Starz Fashion, CEO's Office]

I sat in the office with Isla, discussing Outfittings' new fashion line, when the door flew open, and an older man stormed in.

"Isla Frost, you have one minute to explain why you are dating Lucas Da Silva."

Isla looked up, visibly startled. "Who are you?" she asked, her voice laced with disbelief.

I couldn't believe it. She didn't recognize her own father?

"I will not have you disrespect me," he roared. "I am your dad, and you will explain now."

"Did you forget the time you chased me out of the house... Mr. Frost?" she retorted. Her words hung in the air like a bombshell. He had disowned her?

"Isla... I didn't mean to. I was angry, and it just came out of my mouth. I regret that day. I lost my only daughter then," Mr. Frost said, trying to justify himself.

"Too late for your sorry," Isla replied, tears welling up in her eyes. "When I needed help, you weren't there. When I needed support, you weren't there."

"I was doing what was best for you, and if I had to do it again, I would do it," he insisted.

"Get out, you sexist. All I wanted was your love and support, and you couldn't even give me that. GET OUT OF MY OFFICE NOW."

"Isla, I'm not leaving without you. You are to be married to the Dorato group's oldest son, Xavier King. His dad and I have spoken, and your engagement is in a week's time."

WHAT THE HECK?! I thought, shock coursing through me. I'm going to marry Isla? Part of me thought it was good—I could keep an eye on her. But another part of me knew my life would be hell if I did.

"Sir—I mean, Mr. Frost. I'm Xavier King, Dorato's vice president. How is it that I don't know that my engagement is a week later?" I felt Isla's glare bore into me while her father smiled, looking at her.

"So, you've already met your fiancé?" he asked.

Isla pushed past her dad and ran out of the office. "What are you doing?" her dad demanded. "Go after her."

I grabbed my suit jacket and sprinted after her, bursting out of the building just as she sped off in her car. Without a second thought, I jumped into my car and followed her, my heart pounding in my chest.
