Chapter 6 - [Naptime]

(Catnaps house)

Catnap and Dogday were sound asleep on Catnaps bed.

Dogday was having a wonderful dream. He's chasing a ball on a super sunny day with Catnap, although Catnap wasn't chasing the ball, just throwing it for him to fetch.

Catnap was having a dream too.

Unfortunately though, it wasn't a nice dream like Dogdays.

That voice, it's back.

Unknown: "The others are hungry.. The others are STARVING."

Catnap pov: The others? Who is it talking about? Where is Dogday? Dogday?!

Unknown: "GET UP!"

...

Dogday: "Catnap! Are you alright?!"

Dogdays pov:
Why did Catnap scream like that!?
He must have had a nightmare. I've never had one before but I've heard they are really scary. My poor kitty.

Catnap wrapped his paw around his throat, it hurt a lot more then it ever had before.

He was sat up in a ridgid position, panting and sweating.

Dogday: "Come here. Shh it's okay. You must have had a nightmare but you are awake now, here with me. It's okay."

He wrapped his arm around Catnap waiting for him to catch his breath.

Catnap grabbed the notepad and pen and started scribbling down sentences.

[Dogday, I keep having the same nightmare. A scary voice keeps telling me to get up. It sounds hauntingly robotic. What should I do?]

He handed the paper to Dogday who read it over a few times. He knew exactly who Catnap was talking about.

Dogday never wanted Catnap to find out about him, he was enraged that that thing was polluting his dreams.

Dogday: "Oh Catnap.. I'm so sorry that keeps happening to you. Please try too ignore it. When it speaks to you, think of me standing by your side. Dream Dogday will protect you."

Catnap nodded, he always tried to imagine Dogday with him when the voice came. He tried to ignore it but it shouts louder each time.

It's like a poison cursing it's way through his veins. At least it only happens when he is asleep.

They lay together for a while. Dogday told Catnap about his dream to try and take his mind off the voice.

Catnap couldn't help but find it funny that Dogdays dream was about them playing fetch together.

He decided he wanted to make that become a reality someday.

Dogday turned to check the clock on the wall. 5:40am.

Dogday: "Wow! I hate to say this but I have to go. I wake up the orphans at six! Meet me outside the orphanage around half eleven. That gives you time to meet them before you put them down for a nap at twelve. Remember, everything will be just fine. You'll see."
