Chapter 8 - [Deep Sleep]

My bad for not writing last night🥺.

I work as a barista and it was a really busy Sunday, I fell asleep straight after dinner😅.

Anyways! On with the story!

This chapter might get a little dark but hey, it's Poppy Playtime after all.

(Outside Orphanage)

Catnap and Dogday ran the whole way, when they arrived they were breathless and sweaty.

Dogday leaned on Catnap for support.

Dogday: "Phew, we made it. We are so fast! Oh, you are rockin my shirt by the way." He chuckled.

He had given Catnap a t-shirt that had Dogday, Crafty and Kickin on it. They were skipping to Playcare and it had the words "Take every step like it's your last" Printed on it.

Catnap really liked how much it smelled like Dogday.

It was calming him down, he was really apprehensive about bed time even though nap time had gone so well earlier.

He turned to Dogday for some kind of direction, noticing that Dogday seemed really nervous too.

Dogday used to go for a late night walks, when he walked past he heard screams coming from the orphanage.

He asked the humans about it but they wouldn't tell him anything, so eventually he stopped asking and stopped going for night time walks.

Deep down Dogday had an idea of what was went on in there at night.

He also knew there was nothing he could do to stop it.

Dogday: "Okay, I'm guessing you just go to their rooms and watch over them. Easy enough, right? You did great at nap time, it'll be fine!"

Catnap nodded and looked up at the door towering over them.

It was silent aside from sound of crickets playing through the speakers in Playcare. The moon hung down low over the Orphanage.

All of a sudden the front door opened, causing Catnap to jerk.

It was a human in a white hazard suit with one of those gasmasks from before. "There you are! Come on! The kids are already in their rooms. Dogday..? What are you doing here?"

Dogday awkwardly waved. "I was just walking him over." He turned to Catnap. "I'll come round first thing in the morning to pick you up. I believe in you Catnap."
