The Fight

Think of this like a sequel to my earlier poem Work. IT DOES GET BETTER!

I fought the fight and now here I am

Out of breath, ink on my hands

Billie or Lana through my headphones

Notebooks, textbooks, books of notes

I fought the fight and now here I am

I know there's still far to go

Made the sacrifices and I know

It will not all go wrong now

I'm taking my time, I stay inside

Ice coffee, dried fruit, water

Hot tea or boxes of apple juice

I do it all for me so

I can go to university

You know it makes me happy

And my words will travel to the sea

And then I'll write like Lana

Her songs are my favourite poetry

Like Eliot or Duffy

Want to write books like Charlotte Bronte

I am learning all the things

That one day I will grow to be
