Jeremy was doing the laundry one fine morning.

He was putting the clothes outside to dry on the clothesline.

Matt and Lucy were intrigued by a particular shirt he was hanging.

"Daddy? What's that shirt?" said Lucy.

"It's my football shirt, Lucy luv" answered Jeremy.

"Your dad's playing soccer this afternoon" said Andy.

"But first, I have to go to work" said Jeremy. "I'll see you all later."

"Bye, honey" said Andy.

"Bye, Daddy" said Lucy.

The three watched Jeremy drive away to his recording studio.

"Poor Daddy. Having to go to work" said Lucy.

"Poor Daddy" Andy agreed.

"Come on, let's play" said Lucy.

She ran into the garden and started jumping in a muddy puddle.

Lucy loves jumping up and down in muddy puddles.

Matt loves jumping up and down in muddy puddles.

Even Andy loves jumping up and down in muddy puddles.

But as they jumped, mud was splashing everywhere.

Some mud even splashed onto Jeremy's white soccer jersey.

"Mummy! We've splashed Daddy's football shirt with mud" said Lucy.

"Don't worry, hon; we'll just wash it" said Andy.

"Yes yes!" Matt and Lucy agreed.

"It'll be washed in no time and Daddy won't know it was ever muddy" said Andy.

When they got inside, Matt and Andy went to look for more things to wash.

Lucy then noticed some mud on her favorite red dress.

She took it off and put it in the washing machine with Jeremy's shirt.

Andy and Matt found some sheets and white socks to wash as well.

They put the clothes in the machine and turned it on.

The washing machine filled itself with hot soapy water.

"Splosh! Splosh! Splosh!" Lucy giggled.

"Splosh! Splosh! Splosh!" Matt repeated.

Soon, the machine was washing so hard, it was making the whole room shake!

Andy then noticed Lucy was only wearing her bra and undies.

"Lucy, where's your dress?" said Andy.

"I'm washing it" said Lucy.

"What? Oh no" said Andy.

She opened the washing machine and Lucy put her dress back on.

"See, Mummy? My red dress is all nice and clean" said Lucy.

"I see that, honey. But look what it's done to everything else" said Andy.

She took out Jeremy's soccer jersey and saw that it was now bright pink.

Oh no! Lucy's red dress has made all the white clothes pink!

"Pink isn't a great color for a soccer jersey" said Andy.

Just then, Jeremy came home from work to find his family by the washing machine.

"Jeremy honey... we have kind of a problem" said Andy.

She handed her husband his jersey and he got a good look at it.

"What on earth has happened to my shirt?" he said.

"It got a bit muddy" said Lucy.

"So we washed it" said Andy.

"And it all went a bit wrong. Sorry, Daddy" said Lucy.

"But I can't wear a pink football shirt" said Jeremy.

"Why not, Daddy? Pink is a lovely color" said Lucy.

"Hmm. What do you think, Matt?" said Jeremy uneasily.

"Yuck!" Matt grunted.

Pretty soon, Jeremy's soccer team arrived, but Jeremy himself wasn't ready.

"My team are in white" he said. "I need a white shirt."

"But Daddy. You have a white shirt. Just take off your jacket" said Lucy.

Jeremy took off his jacket and yes, he was wearing a white shirt under it.

So out he went to play soccer with his team.

No sooner did Jeremy's team win the game when they all jumped in muddy puddles and Jeremy's white shirt got muddy.

"Daddy, you made your shirt all muddy!" said Lucy.

"Of course, Lucy" said Jeremy with a smile. "Football shirts are meant to be muddy!"

Jeremy loves playing soccer.

Everyone loves playing soccer. Especially when it's muddy.
