Elemental Magic - Demetri Volturi

Chapter 2

The group walks through the doors and a dark haired boy that looks like Jane says, "Sister. You were sent out to get one and you brought back two...and two halves."

"Two halves make a whole." Logan mutters sarcastically with an eye roll....I wonder if I'd be considered 3/4 since I'm half vampire and he seems to consider everything else halves.  Logan thinks to herself.

Alec narrows his eyes at her but she looks him straight in the eyes, completely unphased. He's annoyed that he isn't intimidating her, she's just a pesky human, but she isn't phased by his glare. She is just staring at him like it's nothing.

Marcus, who was sitting boredly before they entered, sat up straight and looked at Logan in shock. He sees a connection between them and one between her and Demetri. Demetri and Logan have a bright gold line, meaning they are recently connected soulmates. The line is thin, but will grow stronger and brighter over time. The connection between the girl and himself is completely different and the most shocking. He sees a twisted burgundy and pink line going from himself to her. Burgundy means father and pink means daughter. That line means that she is his daughter, his biological daughter. He doesn't understand how it is possible. He is looking at her in shock. This should not be possible.

"What a happy surprise! Bella is alive after all. Isn't that wonderful? I do love happy endings. They are, after all, so rare." Aro says with a smile and Logan's attention goes to him. Caius responds with a sour expression. Marcus isn't paying any attention and is just staring at Logan in shock.

Aro takes Edward's hand to read. After he reads his thoughts, he doesn't release Edward's hand, and says, "Her blood appeals to you so much it makes me thirsty. How can you stand to be so close to her?"

"It's not without effort." Edward says

Aro laughs and says, "I can see that."

Bella looks at Edward confused so he explains, "One touch and Aro can see every thought I've ever had in my life."

"You're quite the telepath yourself, Edward. Though... you can't read Bella's thoughts. Fascinating." Aro says and he releases Edward's hand and turns to Bella. "I would love to see if you are an exception to my gifts, as well." He reaches for Bella's hand. She hesitates, Aro laughs at her reluctance, further extends his hand. Bella finally takes it. He holds her hand and waits a few seconds before confusion sweeps over him. "Interesting." He says as he releases her hand and moves back to his chair, deep in thought. "I see nothing....I wonder if..." He says before looking at Jane while he trails off.

"No!" Edward yells reading Aro's thoughts.

"Let's see if she's immune to all our powers, shall we Jane?" Aro asks

Jane turns toward Bella but Edward springs in front of her. Jane instead focuses her gaze on Edward and he collapses, writhing in agony. Jane concentrates on him with a small smile, enjoying his pain. Logan smirks at it too, thinking he deserves it for what he did to Bella.

"Stop!" Bella shouts and Alec holds her back as Alice rushes to Edward's side. Logan doesn't move from her spot. "Stop! Just stop hurting him. Please. Please."

"Jane." Aro says, stopping her.

As soon as Jane looks away, Edward's pain ceases. 

"Jane, dear. The girl?" Aro says

Jane's gaze now turns toward Bella who waits for the pain, but nothing happens. Jane's grin is replaced by anger. Aro laughs like the Joker and Jane stops trying to cause Bella pain.
