Hadley’s POV

The halls of Merlin Academy buzzed with a nostalgic energy that seemed almost infectious. Everywhere we turned, there was a sense of hope and promise, a far cry from the cold, intimidating halls we had come to know. I looked at the others—Elaine, Harley, and Gavin—and saw the same mix of emotions mirrored in their eyes: determination, fear, and the slightest hint of hope.

“We need to find the right moment,” I said, clutching Red’s pocket watch tightly. “We have to be careful. If we reveal ourselves too soon, it could make things worse.”

Elaine nodded, her eyes scanning the corridors. “We need to catch them when they’re alone. If we can get through to them, maybe we can change everything.”

We moved quickly but cautiously, using the shadows to our advantage. As we navigated the familiar yet strangely foreign hallways, snippets of conversation and laughter filled the air. It was a stark contrast to the tense and fragmented reality we had left behind.

Finally, we found them—our younger parents—in a secluded part of the academy grounds. Maleficent stood by the edge of a shimmering lake, her reflection rippling in the water. Hades was a few steps away, his expression torn between love and frustration.

“I don’t understand why you’re doing this,” Hades said, his voice breaking the stillness. “Why can’t you see that this path is destroying us?”

Maleficent turned to face him, her eyes blazing with an intensity that was both captivating and terrifying. “I’m doing this for our children, Hades. They deserve to have a future where they can be powerful and free.”

“But at what cost?” Hades pleaded. “You’re becoming someone I don’t recognize. This isn’t the Maleficent I fell in love with.”

I exchanged a glance with Harley, who nodded. It was time to act. Taking a deep breath, I stepped out of the shadows, the others following close behind.

“Mom, Dad, stop!” I called out, my voice trembling but firm.

Both of them turned, their eyes widening in shock as they took in our appearance. It was as if they were looking at ghosts.

“Who are you?” Maleficent demanded, her eyes narrowing. “How dare you interrupt us?”

“We’re your children,” I said, stepping forward. “We’ve come from the future to stop you from making a terrible mistake.”

Hades looked between us, confusion and recognition flickering in his eyes. " Aries? Circle?"

I had forgotten that the last time they saw us in this past we told them that our names were ares and  circe

“ no dad. Those are just the names we used when you first met us but our real names are Harley and Hadley your younger children Harley said, her voice breaking. “We’ve come to show you what your choices will lead to.”

Maleficent’s expression softened for a moment before hardening again. “This is some kind of trick. It has to be.”

“It’s not a trick, Mom,” I said, my voice pleading. “We’re here because we need you to see what’s at stake. Your pursuit of power—it destroys our family.”

Elaine stepped forward, holding out Red’s pocket watch. “This watch brought us here. It shows us the past, present, and future. Let us show you what happens if you continue down this path.”

There was a tense silence as Maleficent and Hades exchanged a look. Finally, Hades nodded. “Show us.”

I took the pocket watch from Elaine and activated it. The air shimmered, and scenes from our future began to unfold around us like a holographic projection.

We watched as our childhood home, once filled with laughter and warmth, became a place of tension and division. The image of our family, torn apart by misunderstandings and conflicting ambitions, played out before our parents’ eyes.

“This is what happens if you don’t change,” I said, my voice breaking. “We grow up separated, constantly caught in the middle of your battles. We lose our family.”

Maleficent’s eyes filled with tears as she watched the scenes unfold. “I never wanted this,” she whispered. “I thought I was protecting you both and your sister.”

“But you were wrong,” Hades said softly, stepping closer to her. “We need each other, Maleficent. Our children need both of us.”

The scene shifted, showing a different future—one where our family was united. Hades and Maleficent stood together, guiding us with love and understanding. The tension and division were gone, replaced by a sense of unity and strength.

“This is the future we can have,” I said, my heart swelling with hope. “But only if you both choose to work together, to put your family above everything else.”

Maleficent turned to Hades, her expression one of deep sorrow and regret. “I’m so sorry,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “I’ve let my ambition blind me to what’s truly important.”

Hades took her hand, his eyes filled with love and forgiveness. “We can change this, Maleficent. We can build a better future for our children.”

Tears streamed down my face as I watched my parents embrace, their love for each other rekindling in that moment. It felt like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders, the possibility of a new beginning filling me with a sense of hope I hadn’t felt in a long time.

Gavin stepped forward, his expression serious but hopeful. “We still have work to do. We need to make sure this change sticks.”

Maleficent nodded, her eyes shining with determination. “We will. Together.”

As we prepared to return to our own time, I felt a sense of peace settle over me. For the first time in a long while, the future didn’t seem so bleak. We had given our parents a chance to change, and in doing so, we had given ourselves a chance at a better future.

Holding Red’s pocket watch, I activated it once more. The air shimmered, and we were transported back to our own time, our hearts filled with hope and determination. We knew the road ahead wouldn’t be easy, but for the first time, it felt like a road worth traveling.

And with that I hoped mom and dad stayed true to her word
