Chapter 5

Hadley's POV

As I followed Hades to the Black Lagoon, my mind raced with the potential consequences of this trip. I needed to stay vigilant, to ensure that Harley and I didn't inadvertently change the course of history. But there was also an undeniable curiosity within me to learn more about our parents and their past.

The Black Lagoon was a hidden gem, tucked away from the main school grounds. It was a dark, eerie place, perfectly befitting Uliana's reputation. As we approached, I saw Uliana lounging near the water's edge, her eyes sharp and calculating.

"Uliana," Hades called out, getting her attention. "We've got some new transfers. This is Aries and Circe."

Uliana's eyes narrowed as she scrutinized us. "Transfers? I wasn't informed."

"They're new," Hades said smoothly. "Thought you'd want to meet them."

Her skepticism was evident. "Interesting. And where exactly are you from?"

"We're from a different school, far from here," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady.

Uliana didn't seem convinced, but she nodded. "We'll see how you fit in."

I decided to make my exit and find Harley. I pulled her aside and found a quiet spot where we could talk privately. "Listen, Uliana is skeptical of us, but Hades and Maleficent seem to trust us enough. We need to be careful."

Harley nodded. "Agreed. What's the plan?"

"I'll tell the others about the invite. We need to stay on high alert."

We made our way back to the dorms, where Red, Chloe, Gavin, and Elaine were waiting. I quickly filled them in on the situation.

"Harley and I got invited to the Black Lagoon," I said. "Uliana's planning something for Bridget. We need to be there, but you guys should stay hidden and out of sight."

Red looked determined. "We'll be there."

Elaine stepped closer, her eyes filled with concern. "Be careful, Hadley."

I felt a strange flutter in my chest at her words. "We will. We'll figure this out together."

As night fell, Harley and I returned to the Black Lagoon. The atmosphere was tense, the air thick with anticipation. Uliana eyed us with suspicion but didn't say anything. Hades and Maleficent stood nearby, their expressions unreadable.

Uliana started singing, her voice powerful and menacing.

I exchanged a glance with Harley, both of us understanding the underlying threat in Uliana's words. As the song ended, the crowd began to disperse, leaving me alone with Hades.

"Hey, Hades," I started, "Can I ask you something personal?"

He looked intrigued. "Sure, go ahead."

"Your relationship with Maleficent... you seem really close. What's the story there?"

A soft smile played on his lips. "We have a whole life planned out. Maleficent initially wanted three daughters, but I wanted a son to teach my powers to, someone who would be the prince of the underworld."

"Wow," I said, feeling a pang of emotion. "That's... intense."

He nodded. "It is. But it's our dream."

"If you had a son what would you name him?" I asked

Hmm I like the name hadley. He said

His words gave me a deeper understanding of my parents. Their love, struggles, and plans for the future were more complex than I had ever realized. This time travel experience was giving me more insight into who they really were.

Uliana's POV

As I watched the newcomers, Aries and Circe, interact with Hades and Maleficent, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Their story was too convenient, their presence too timely. I needed to keep a close eye on them.

I watched as the newcomers mingled with my group. There was something about them that made me uneasy, but I couldn't put my finger on it. I needed to be cautious.

Hadley's POV

Later that night, as the crowd thinned, Elaine found me again. We sat by the edge of the lagoon, the water shimmering under the moonlight.

"I'm glad you are ok," she said softly.

"Me too," I replied, my heart racing. "There's so much me and Harley don't know about our parents. Being here, seeing them like this... it's overwhelming."

Elaine reached out, her hand gently touching mine. " I'm sure you and Harley will figure it out together and if you need help I'll be there."

In that moment, surrounded by the echoes of the past and the uncertain future, I felt a connection with Elaine that was undeniable. Despite all the chaos, there was something solid and real between us. As we sat there, I couldn't help but think that maybe, just maybe, we were meant to find each other in this tangled web of time and destiny.
