Elizabeth's pov

Taylor didn't ask anymore questions while we went and got a new backpack but I knew she wasn't gonna just let it go.

And sure enough, I was right. "Liz, don't go to bed just yet. I still need to talk to you." Taylor said after dinner that night.

I nodded and watched Taylor put the leftover homemade pizza in the fridge before gesturing for me to follow her.

I followed her into the living room and she sat down on the couch. I remained standing, not sure if I should sit down or not and she must've noticed the hesitation 'cause she patted the spot next to her and I finally sat down.

She put an arm around me and pulled me closer to her. "So, you wanna tell me what happened today?"

"Uhm." I replied. "Well, I went to school today, and then we went shopping for backpacks, and then we came home and you made homemade pizza's, and Olivia knocked yours in the floor so you had to make a new one-" I started to explain but she cut me off. "You know that's not what I meant. What happened with your backpack?"

"Oh." I sighed. "It got ruined."

"And how did it get ruined?" Taylor asked.

"It got put in the trash can." I shrugged nonchalantly, trying not to make it a big deal.

"And who put it in the trash can?" Taylor prodded on.

"Someone from school." I replied.

"Why did they do that?" Taylor asked, gently moving a strand of hair out of the way that had fallen into my lap.

"'Cause she's a fuckin' dick." I scoffed before I could help myself. But, in my defense, I'm not really used to the whole 'no cussing' thing.

"Hey, what did I tell you about the language." Taylor said, raising an eyebrow at me.

"Sorry." I mumbled embarrassingly. "I'm not used to not being able to cuss."

"It's okay, just don't let it happen again." Taylor replied and I nodded. "Anyway, she continued. "Has this girl bullied you before?"

I nodded. "Yeah, she's been doing it since third grade."

"And have you told anybody about this?" Taylor asked and I very begrudgingly shook my head.

"Why?" Taylor asked. "If she's been bullying you like this then you have to tell someone. Like a teacher or guardian."

"The school never cared. She's popular and a suck up to all the teachers so they'd never believe someone who's always getting in trouble versus someone who never does. And no adult at the orphanage ever cared either." I explained. I hated the way Taylor was looking at me right now, like she pitied me, and I hate it when people pity me.

"Awe, I'm sorry sweetie. But I'm here now and I want to be there and help you, okay? But that means you're gonna have to let me and tell me about things like this happening, okay?" She said, rubbing her hand up and down my arm in a comforting manner.

"Okay." I replied shyly.

"Are you sure you don't want to switch to homeschool?" Taylor asks. "You can still hang out with your friends and have them over, if you're worried about the lack of socializing."

"Maybe I'll wait a little longer. If it doesn't get better and I don't feel it anymore, I might switch to homeschooling." I replied. "But I wanna keep going in person for now."

Taylor nodded. "Okay. Sounds good, but please don't let this keep going on, okay?"

I nodded. "Okay, I won't." I went to get up before Taylor stopped me. "Wait. There's something else I wanted to talk to you about."
