I couldn't think of a chapter name so I might change it later on.

                          Elizabeths pov

"Liz, wake up. We're gonna be late!" My eyes fluttered open when someone shoved my body over.

I groaned and turned my head to see my best friend and fellow foster care kid, Adam, shaking me. "C'mon, it's already 7:15!"

My eyes shot open fully and I sat up in my bed quickly. "What?! Why are you just now waking me up then?!"

"I thought you were just taking forever to get ready!" Adam defended and I rolled my eyes, jumping out of bed and pushing him out of the room. "Go, put a pop-tart in the toaster for me while I change!"

Adam left quickly and I went as fast as I could to get ready, which was probably a new record for me. After I changed into a grey shirt that said "Reputation" on it with a picture of Taylor Swift, as well as some ripped jeans, I grabbed my backpack and rushed downstairs where Adam was waiting for me at the front door with two pop-tarts in his hand. "Ready now?"

I nodded, grabbing the pop-tarts out of his hand and rushing out of the door with him following behind me. We ran quickly to the subway and hopped on right before the doors closed. "Oh, thank god."

We quickly made our way to our seats and sat down in relief. "Next time you oversleep, I'm leaving without you." Adam groans "yes, sir!" I salute playfully.

We sat in silence as the subway took off. I pulled out my earbuds and connected them to my phone before putting them in my ear and going to Spotify.

I went to my Taylor Swift playlist and hit shuffle. The first song to come on was The Other Side Of The Door. I laid my head back against the seat and closed my eyes, getting lost in my music playlist.

The next time I was shaken back to reality was when I was halfway through Dancing With Our Hands Tied. "We're here." Adam said. I grabbed my backpack and stood up from my seat.

We walked off the subway and basically sprinted towards the school. We ran through the doors and sped walk to our lockers since we can't run in school. I probably still would've ran, but I didn't want to run into anything and there's kids still out and heading to their classes that I could ram into.

We got to our lockers, which were right next to each other, and quickly got everything for the next four classes ready. Adam and I have three classes together. Second, fifth, and seventh.

We said goodbye and went our separate ways. Both trying to make it homeroom on time. I could see my homeroom door coming into view and getting closer with every step I took. I was about fifteen feet away from it when...

Ring!

Ring!

Ring!

I quickly ran into the room about five seconds after the bell rang and prayed that I would be safe.

"Elizabeth."

My teacher, Mrs. Graham, addressed me sternly. I squinted my eyes and cursed in my head before turning around. "Yes, Mrs. Graham?" I replied sweetly.

"You're late." She looked at me with her eyebrows furrowed and I knew I was fucked. She didn't like me very much, and by "very much" I mean at all.

"I know. I overslept and ran here as fast as I could." I tried to defend even though I knew it wouldn't change much.

"Detention, today after school and for the rest of the week." She said, bluntly. I groaned. "Seriously? I was literally five seconds late! Have some empathy." I knew that everyone in this school basically knew about my situation, and it just made all my normal amount of bullying so much worse.
