"How would you like to become a sister of Gamma Lambda Tau?"

I felt my heart flutter in my chest as the words I had anxiously been waiting to hear finally reached my ears. I felt a smile stretch widely across my face as I nodded eagerly. I giggled with nervous excitement as I felt an envelope being pushed into my outstretched hands.

"You can open your eyes, now", a female voice snickered from in front of me. My eyes quickly snapped open, my gaze directed downwards towards my hands clutching a hot pink envelope, almost as if I was expecting someone to come and snatch it away. I slid my manicured fingernail under the seal, and carefully ripped it open. I fumbled with it for a second, as my shaking hands withdrew a piece of thick cardstock decorated with calligraphy that was the same shade of pink as the outer covering.

The order of Gamma Lambda Tau invites Miss Cassidy Barnes to join our Sacred Sisterhood.

My eyes scanned over the words rapidly, reading and rereading the proclamation scrawled across the paper. I looked up with wide eyes, staring at the pretty blonde girl looking down at me. Part of me thought that all of this was merely a dream, and I was going to wake up and go back to being a normal, non-involved college student. A nobody, if you will.

"Well?" she asked expectantly, cocking an eyebrow high above her pretty blue eyes, which were framed by dark, impossibly long lashes. I gawked at her, eyes darting from her unsettling eyes to the card in my hands, and then back to her.

"I-I would love to!" I stuttered, still in shock.

I did it.

I got a bid.

I am on my way to being a Gamma Lambda Tau.

A somebody.

The blonde girl squealed, and pulled me into a big hug. "Yay! I'm, like, so glad", she exclaimed, pulling away from me. "Okay, so, my name is Caroline, and I'm the president of Gamma Lambda Tau. But, like, you probably already knew that," she continued, in her annoying dialect that really fit the ditzy, blonde, sorority girl stereotype.

Of course I knew who she was. I had been obsessed with Caroline and the idea of becoming a Gamma Lambda Tau since I first enrolled at the university. Caroline and her sisters were the definition of perfect. Skinny, pretty, beautiful hair that was never out of place, and a permanent angelic glow surrounding them. They were the personification of perfection. Almost as if Victoria's Secret models were somehow given real angel wings and were blessed by saints.

Everyone loved them. Frat boys, athletes, computer science geeks, professors, even the campus custodians. They were perfect and loved by all, which is why I was so shocked that they chose me.

I guess by most standard definitions of the word "pretty", i could be considered as such, with my auburn hair and emerald eyes. I wasn't stick thin, but i wasn't as curvy as some of the other sisters. I was pretty average, while Gamma Lambdas looked like literal goddesses.

I continued to stare at the paper in my hands, a huge grin spreading across my face. Caroline took my arm, and led me to a room where all of the other girls with bids were standing.

"Welcome, ladies, to Gamma Lambda Tau!", Caroline announced, as everyone in the room cheered.

"Congratulations on your bids! Now, we do have a little tradition in store for you ladies."

A small grin with something sinister behind it slowly spread across Caroline and the rest of the sorority executive boards' faces.

" Oh don't worry, it's nothing too bad, I promise."
