After 4 Months

22nd March 1951,
Gundala.

Jaya was running here and there following her mother-in-law as they both were looking after the decorations. The decorations were being done for Holi as well as Bhavesh's birthday. Bhavesh will be turning 12 tomorrow. After looking at the decorations Tara went to kitchen and Jaya followed her. In kitchen Tara and Lata were making Gujiya, meanwhile Jaya was talking to them about her exams. Yes, Jaya was shifted to the Gundala' s school for the time she was here.

Out of a sudden Tara asked Jaya "Betu have you packed your clothes?" Listening to Tara Jaya confusingly asked "Why Baai (Mother)? I have to go somewhere?" Tara looked at Jaya and chuckled lightly while flicking her forehead and said "Buddhu have you forgotten that day after tomorrow you will go to Depa and will return on your 9th Marriage Anniversary." Listening to Tara Jaya remembered how she requested her father. Jaya became sad at the thought of leaving her new family. She started loving all of them but she knows that she can't back out now as her father and father-in-law has promised each other about this arrangement.

Jaya looked at the time and concluded that her husband might be in fields or in the playground. She wanted to tell this new information to her husband as she was sure that Bhavesh doesn't know. She looked at her mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law and said "Baai (Mother), Baa (Grand Ma) I am going to play. I will come in an hour or so." Saying this she ran and didn't wait for any answers as she knows their typical dialogue "Don't run and come soon."

Jaya's POV:

I first ran to the playground in hope that I can find him hear as fields are a bit away. I saw his few friends and asked about him of which I got to know that he is in field with Addhha. Ofo now I have to go to fields. Can't he be like a normal child and play in playground. Cursing him under by breath I ran towards our fields. While crossing the school I looked at the school longingly as me, Bhavesh and Keshav used to come and go together. I will miss him.

When I reached the fields, I asked one helper kaka about my husband's whereabouts'. He mentioned that he is near warehouse. I was moving towards the warehouse when I felt someone tapping on my shoulder. I looked behind and found Dushyant. My mood got dampened, I don't like him he always asks me weird questions and always smiles making me want to break his teeth's. I looked at him and asked "What? What do you want? And don't touch me from now on without my permission" listening to me he replied but still with that creepy smile of his "I just wanted to talk to you Jaya. I ac" before Dushyant could complete, I heard third voice saying "Call her Bhabhi." I turned around and saw my husband. I beamed instantly.

Glaring at Dushyant he took my hand and took me away from that scene. After coming to a distance, he left my hand and looked at me still with a pissed off face. "What was the need to talk to that suvaar?" I looked at him stunned and replied "I was not talking to him I was only warning him to not come near me" listening to me Bhavesh cooled down a bit and pecked my forehead. Yes, he pecks my forehead. Once we saw Addhha pecking Baai's forehead and henceforth he also pecks my forehead when no one is around.

"Achha sorry na. Now tell me why did you come here suddenly" I looked at him and guiltily said "I will be going to Depa day after tomorrow" he looked at me with a sad expression and asked "ohh... umm for how many days?" now I am getting nervous how would I tell him. "Umm I actually umm I will come on oo...our 9th ann... anniversary" listening to me got stunned and then a blank expression came on his face and he asked me to explain him in detail which I did.

After I completed my rant, he looked at me and went away leaving me crying. I know I hurted him but I don't know what to do anymore. Wiping my tears I went back to home.

He didn't even look at me once he came back and not even during Holika Dahan Pooja. I tried to talk to him but he won't answer me back. Looking at his distant behavior I went to my room and started crying. I will miss him I will miss everyone. His distant behavior is hurting me. Was I wrong to ask for more years with my Parents?

Author's POV:

23rd March 1951,

At the early dawn villagers started coming to Satra's house as they are hosting this year's Holi's celebration. All the Males are in Backyard and all the Females are in Veranda.

Bhavesh is trying to find his wife as after waking up he realized he was unnecessary being rude to his wife. He saw her in veranda but saw her talking with his mother. He tried to eavesdrop but could only gather 2 words i.e. Chandan (Sandalwood) and Derassar (Jain Temple). Before he could process this 2 words, he saw Jaya going to the front yard. He swiftly went to front yard and started following her. Before he could reach her Jaya entered Derassar. Huffing he patiently waited for her outside. After few mins he saw her coming out with a bowl of Chandan paste (sandalwood paste).

Jaya in her own world didn't saw her husband and got startled when someone hold her shoulder. She saw her husband and on instant tears started to well up in her eyes. Before she could speak Bhavesh held his ears and started doing sit ups. Continuing mumbling 'sorry'. Looking at Bhavesh Jaya giggled through her tears and hold his hand to stop him.

Bhavesh looked at Jaya and saw that she is not yet coloured. He took her to their deity's temple and he took some sindoor and gulaal from the temple. He first applied sindoor on Jaya's hairline, later smudged some gulaal on her face. Jaya also took some gulaal and smudged on Bhavesh's cheek. They both smiled at each other and Bhavesh again apologized for his behavior.

While going toward their home. Bhavesh was continuingly gazing at Jaya. Before Jaya could enter into the house Bhavesh hold her wrist and whispered in her ear "Meet me in the back of shed after everyone sleeps. Please Jayu" saying he went to backyard without waiting for any answer. Jaya looked at his retreating figure with a confused pout.
