Chapter 6 - On the way

CONTENT- There is some violence in this chapter just so you know

WINTER

Autumn and I had an extremely early start this morning. We had to check that we had everything we needed packed and made sure we turned everything off and locked everything up. Once we had made sure that everything was alright we got in the car and set off ready to go. We sat in comfortable silence for a while with the faint noise of the radio in the background. There was quite a lot of traffic on the way and because it was early and the drive was taking so long I told Autumn to sleep. She was awake most of last night doing work because she didn't want to be behind when we got back but she also didn't want to be doing work while away, she wanted it to be time for us to relax and have fun together.

AUTUMN

I was exhausted, just zoning out staring into nothingness, I was brought back by Winter slowly placing his hand on my cheek. I got scared but just stared at him realizing who it was.

" Are you alright my love, go to sleep please you need it." I didn't answer, I knew I was tired but i didn't realize that Winter could tell as well. I never did answer him, i just closed my eyes and before i knew it I was asleep.

* IN A DREAM *
As my dad came up the stairs I stood peeking from behind my bedroom door he had been out drinking. It was just after mum left and father didn't know what to do anymore. Everyday he would hurt Reece but Reece had gone out and wasn't back yet . I was scared I know Reece could fight back with my father, he wasn't scared of what he could do but I was Reece would always keep me hidden in his bedroom playing me music in his headphones whenever father would get violent. I just ran over to Reece's bedroom as fast I could as I rummaged through his draws for the headphones. As I found them and connected them to my phone my father came through the door screaming and throwing things around the room and at the me as well. He stumbled over towards me slurring his words as he did so. He raised his arm and hit me. I fell to the floor. I was crying as he went to kick me but was pulled away. I saw Reece dragging him out. Reece came back into his bedroom where I was still on the floor. He locked the door, picked me up and laid me down on his bed and sang to me until I fell asleep.

" AUTUMN WAKE UP PLEASE JUST WAKE UP" my eyes opened to Winter pulled over on the side of the motorway

WINTER

"HELP ME HELP ME PLEASE" Autumn shouted while crying in her sleep, I turned my head trying to wake her up nothing was working. I pulled over so I could focus all of my attention into getting her out for whatever it was she was scared of. Her eyes opened as she looked at me scared. I placed my hand on her cheek but she just unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car. This is probably not the best start to the trip but its fine because whatever has just happened to Autumn is something i would happily end a trip for if it made her feel comfortable. I got out of the car as well and went over to Autumn and I tried to comfort her. When she had stopped crying I led her back to the car and i just let her explain. She told me everything that she saw while she was asleep and what she was scared of. I was heartbroken for her. I made sure to ask if she wanted to go home but she was adamant on still going to the Lake District. I started the car again keeping my hand on Autumn's thigh gently rubbing it to try and keep her calm. For about ten minutes more we sat in silence until she started to talk about her childhood, about her father and her brother, about why she didn't like her dad, we had had this conversation multiple times but each time it's like there's more she needs to talk about. I finally had understood why Autumn was who she was, but at that point i didn't want to stay overthinking everything she had told me. There was just so much to talk about after that moment we just had a deep conversation until we finally arrived at where we were staying.

AUTUMN

I didn't think that I would have ever had the confidence to talk to Winter about my childhood in all of that detail but I guess in the moment all was revealed. I thought that it would be embarrassing to show weaknesses with how closed of I am now but I should have known by now that Winter wouldn't judge me he likes me for me. But we had arrived at our destination so as soon as Winter stopped the car I just got out, I didn't want to leave time for any awkward silence. I just got my things out of the boot of the car and walked towards the owner of the airb&b we were staying in got the key and went inside not waiting for Winter to see if he was behind me or not I just went inside.
