Urmila approaches Rishi, who is seated on a cushioned daybed, lost in a book in his studies.
Urmi: Rishi, can we talk?
Rishi( looks up, his eyes filled with a cold indifference.): "kya?"
Urmi: This constant tension between us is affecting everyone, especially your parents. Why are you ignoring them.
Rishi scoffs.: "Oh, spare me the act. They're just waiting for you to replace her."
Urmi: That's not true. They like me. They're trying to accept this situation.Aur woh genuinely mujhse pyar karte hain.
Rishi: Accept? They're tolerating it. Because they think you're going to be the perfect daughter-in-law and you can replace Somi from my life.
Urmi: That's unfair, Rishi. I didn't choose this. Neither did you.
Rishi: (Angrily) But you're playing along! You're cozying up to them, trying to be their favorite. Taki tum edhar reh sakho and you are making everything difficult.
Urmi: (Tears welling up) That's not true. I'm trying to build a relationship with them, to make this work.Taki hum sab ek chaat ke niche khusi se reh sakhe na ki office bhag jayen subah hote hin aur rat ko wapas aye.
Rishi: (Coldly) Well, stop. Don't pretend to be someone you're not. And yaad rakhna ki yeh rishta khatam hojyega
Urmi: (Determined) Nahi, Rishi. Main unko khush karna unke saath rehna nhi band karungi. We need to find a way to coexist peacefully. For everyone's sake.
Rishi slams the book shut, his face a mask of anger. "Fine," he says through clenched teeth. "Let's see how long this 'peace' lasts."
Urmila:"Aur ek baat Rishi, stop blaming everything on me,Your parents don't like Somi because of who she is, not because of me.Agar mujhe yeh sab bolne ke alawa kisi aur ko bolte shayyad situation aaj kuch aur hota."
Rishi's face contorted in anger. "Don't you dare act innocent and talk against Somi! Tum use janti nahi ho.You've wormed your way into their hearts. You're trying to replace Somi."
Urmila (scoffed):"Replace Somi?"
Urmi:"I am not Somi, and I never will be. I'm trying to build a relationship with your parents, to create my own space in this family. Galat hai?"
Rishi slammed his hand on the table, his eyes blazing. :"You’re walking on thin ice, Urmi. Don't push me."
Urmi met his gaze, her own anger flaring. "I'm not the one pushing anyone. I'm trying to find a way to coexist peacefully. But if you continue to treat me like an enemy, then so be it.And yeh chilana uspe karna jise apni biwi mante ho DON'T TRY TO CONTROL ME AT BLOODY ANY COST."
A heavy silence fell between them. The once opulent room seemed to shrink, the tension thick in the air. Neither of them was willing to back down.
