Ще нам, браття-українці, усміхнеться доля. (Upon us, fellow Ukrainians, fate shall smile once more.)

September 26th, 1983. Kyiv, Ukrainian SSR.

The noises of the chaos engulfed the night. Kiev, the capital of the Ukrainian SSR, was in chaos during that noon. Evacuation routes had been planned and used by the Red Army, to try to save more people in the case of a war...

Daryna "Nina" Kovalenko Vasilyeva had been woke up by the noises, and only knew some chaos from the outside...

She had to call Arisha soon to confirm what happened...

"Arisha! It's me, Daryna! What's happening?"

"Nina!! Leave Kiev now, the war has started!"

"так, мама!" (Sure, mom!)

Daryna tried to leave as fast as possible the city...but the explosion affected her vehicle, and radiation poisoned her...Would she survive? Or dissapear as the leaves of a birch during winter...She couldn't know it...

After the strikes, which left cities and bases in ruins, only few areas survived...

Four states in Western Ukraine began to rise...those would become Halych (Galicia), Polesia, Podolia, and Volhynia... Crimea would join them too.

Galicia would had been created as a joint union between Zakarpattia (Vasylyna Oros) and Halychyna. (Bartek Moroz, who was outside of Lviv that day) Meanwhile, Polesia (Boleslav Ostapchuk/Zhytomyr), Podolia (Paraska Slobodyanyuk) and Volhynia, formed by the sister of Halychyna, Oliwia Moroz (Volyn/Volhynia) and Omelian Polyukhovych (Rivne), declared their independence from the USSR... when the contact with the USSR goverment and riots made everything a chaos

Efrosinia "Efra" Stoyanova (Taraclia/Budjak) felt abandoned by some years, due the attacks in the Soviet port and naval base at Izmail. To make matters even worse, the winds in Romania and the surrounding region at the time were blowing east and northeast, extensively contaminating areas in Eastern Romania that had been previously unaffected, as well as areas east of there... until she was annexed by the Transylvanian goverment from former Romania.

In the eastern areas of the Ukrainian SSR, the main surviving areas were three oblasts:

Since the Russian Confederacy, a nationalist and militaristic country based in Belgorod, took some parts of the former Ukrainian SSR, Kyrilo Bondarenko Vasilyev (Donbass),  Vera "Verica" Bondarenko Vasilyev (Luhansk), and the recovered Taras Miroshnichenko (Kharkiv) joined Boris Zapasnik (Belgorod), ... trying himself to treat them better than the goverment of that country...

And for Crimea...he became a new nation, a pot of different groups who collaborated between eachother to survive this new world...

The fate of the new nations was painful since the start...

The Galician region of the Ukraine suffered several strikes on Doomsday, though the pattern of the strikes did enable many to survive in the area with few ill effects.

In the Galician region of the Ukraine, order, as in the majority of the Ukraine, rapidly broke down, as government centers were destroyed and fallout began to cover much of the land. A few islands of stability, however, did remain. These islands would eventually evolve into the modern city-states of the Confederation.

Slowly, these islands of stability would begin to expand their authority, using a combination of police, militia and actual soldiers to defeat the bandits and armed bands that had popped up in the area after Doomsday. The most powerful of these city-states, based out of the surviving provincial capital of Chernivtsi, soon encountered exploration parties from the city-states of Tovste, Yaremche and Khotyn, at more or less the same time. After determining that they were not more bandits, an alliance was quickly agreed upon, to better enable them to survive the horrors of the new world.
