It was getting darker, so Katherine went towards the entrance of the maze-like every other day to wait for her best friend, Minho. After a few minutes of waiting she noticed the greenie and Chuck walking towards the entrance, making her frown.
" Look around all you want but you better not go out there" Katherine heard the younger boy say. " Why not? What's there?" The greenie asked. " I don't know. I just know what I'm told. And we're not supposed to leave" Chuck answered him. " He's right, green bean. It's dangerous out there" Katherine approached the two boys with a small grin. Then she finally saw Minho and Ben run out of there.
" Hey, Chuck. New greenie, huh? How does it feel to be promoted?" Ben said to Chuck as the two runners ran past them, of course, Minho didn't forget to ruffle the girl's hair. " Feels great, Ben" Chuck answered. " I thought no one was allowed to leave," The greenie said. " I said we're not allowed to leave. They're different. They're runners. They know more about the maze than anyone" Chuck explained and Katherine winced when Chuck mentioned the maze. " Wait, what?" The greenie asked. " What?" Chuck answered with a question. " What? You just said 'maze'" the greenie said. " I did?" Chuck asked. " Yeah," the greenie told him. After that, the greenie started to walk closer to the entrance. " What are you doing?" Both Chuck and Katherine asked the boy. " I'm just gonna take a look," the greenie said. " I told you, you can't," Chuck said, holding his elbow. " No one leaves. Especially now" Katherine said and slightly pushed the boy back. " It's not safe" Chuck added. " Okay, alright. I'm not gonna go" the greenie said moving past them both.
" Hey!" Katherine heard Gally yell and then only saw as he pushed the greenie. The greenie flew a bit and landed on the ground on his back hardly. " We gotta stop meeting like this" Gally said to the boy on the ground as he stood over him. " Hey, Gally. That's enough" Katherine said, only for the keeper of the builders to held out his hand. " Get off me!" The greenie got on his feet quickly. " Alright, calm, calm, calm." Gally raised his hand. " Don't touch me!" The greenie yelled. " Whoa, take it easy. Take it easy. Just relax" Gally reasured him. " What the hell is wrong with you guys?" The greenie asked. " We just want to keep you safe, okay?" Katherine said and touched the greenie's shoulder, only for her to be pushed and she fell on the ground. " Just calm down, alright?" Newt ran over, few gladers following him. Gally helped Katherine stand up and she only tapped on his chest with her finger three times. " No. Why won't you tell me what's out there?" The greenie asked. " We're trying to protect you, man" Alby said to him. " For your own good" Newt added. " You can't keep me here!" The greenie said. " We can't let you leave!" Alby shot back. " Why not?" The greenie asked. And just on time the walls started to rumble and the doors to the maze started closing. " That's why" Katherine glared at the boy.
" What the hell?" The greenie asked scared. When the doors were shut, Gally started to slowly walked away. " Next time, I'm gonna let you leave" Gally said to him before walking away. " Welcome to the glade" Alby told the greenie, making Katherine to smirk and walk away.
