Towards the end of the summer, the red leaves fell off the crown of the trees and the air around us become colder. I sat under the tree, enjoying the fresh outside air that I craved so much for after finishing my studies. It was the time of Lord Karlheinz's arrival and everyone was busy preparing a celebration for his return. Words couldn't express how excited I was to see him again, it's been a long time since I seen my King, my savior. A faint blush spread across my face as I thought of his handsome face with his glowing yellow eyes that showed both kindness and wisdom. Slapping my cheeks, I shook away my thoughts of thinking of my master in such a romantic manner.
'He was a married man who had a family.'.
"Oi, Girl what are you drooling about? Thinking of something dirty again?" asked a loud childish voice from above me. Looking up, I saw Ayato wearing his winter coat, sitting high up in the branches looking down on me.
"I'm not drooling, I'm just taking a break. How's the weather looking up there, Lord Ayato?" I joked with him. He clicked his tongue in a childish manner not believing a word I was saying nor humored my joke.
"Nothing interesting, just cloudy as ever." He said, jumping down from the tree and landed in front of me.
"Did you miss me?" he asked ruffling my hair. I pouted and tried to grab his hand, but he moved away grinning evilly.
"Firstly I wish you wouldn't have to mess my hair, Lord Ayato and secondly it's not girl. It's Selena." I reminded him again. He shrugged casually dusting his hands and started kicking the leaves on the ground causing my eyebrows to raise.
"Are you bored my lord? Cause I can see you have nothing interesting to do?"
"Na, I do, that why I came to see you. I want you to get some those tasty pastries from the kitchen again." He said smiling mischievously at me. Ever since my encounter with him and his brothers I developed a deep understand rather than a friendship because I knew to them I was only a playmate. One of the things Ayato enjoyed most was asking me to stealing pastries for him from the kitchen.
"You know we're going to get into a lot of trouble for that. Last time you ordered me to steal sweets I also got hit by a pot." I told him but he nudged me painfully in the side.
"Pfft, you're just weak. I don't care about you, either you get now or later." He demanded like a stubborn child, I rolled my eyes and groan in defeat.
"Later then I won't be able to get sweets for you now because the cook will be there and I don't want to get stabbed by flying knives and forks so we'll do it later," I said remembering the scene where the cook caught me was enough to make my skin crawl. But the candy curled vampire only grumbled, ignoring my plea and leans against the tree watching me leave. His cat eyes watched me curiously as I watched away from him.
"You better not forget, girl!" he whined. I gave him a funny look as he called me and casually waved my hand in the air as I walked back into the castle. I want to visit Ms Justine as she hasn't been able to work due to being sick so the headmistress had to take over her duties. Walking through the door I greeted the other servants and walked straight to Justine's bedside where she was resting. She smiled warmly and pulled me into a warm hug.
"My lady, I'm so happy to see you. How are you, have you been behaving yourself." I nestled my head on her lap childishly allowing her to run her fingers through my hair.
"I'm always a good girl," I said. She combed her fingers into my raven locks hair separating each strand.
"Really, that's not what the headmistress has been telling me." I looked away sheepishly with a pouted lip, but the maid sighed in defeat and smiled tenderly. For the past few weeks has completely changed her appearance; she looked pale, her skin was dry, but her eyes were still full of energy, but I still admire as like a child would do for her mother. She turned me around taking the brush running through my hair. I whined as the comb pulled through my knotty hair but relaxed as she continuously soothed my head.
