Chapter 9: Homesick.

What do I do? Mum's going to kill me of she finds out what happened today. These days I have to be careful, i'm afraid she may just start with the abuse. Clearly God wasn't on my side, at all.

Heading out of the nurse's office, we made our way back to the changing rooms as p.e was over now, looking at the time.

Mina: Sunoo, have you ever caught feelings for someone at this school? Or in general?

Sunoo looked down and smiled before looking in front to answer me.

Sunoo: (sighs) There was this one girl. She was pretty, and almost perfect in my eyes. She wasn't from here actually, she was from China. She had the looks and I remember how she would never allow any guy to walk over her or date her actually. So many good looking guys in this school, yet never dated any of them. Jay tried asking her out, multiple times but was always rejected. I too wanted to ask her out, but I was afraid, afraid of rejection.

I looked at him, lips turning upside down.

Mina: It's okay Sunoo, but rejection is actually a good thing sometimes, it helps make you a bigger person. It shows that you're not a pussy.

Sunoo playfully shoved my shoulder as he laughed at me.

Sunoo: Anyways, what are you going to do now, since you have detention? You gonna attend it or?

Mina: I still don't know if I should go, it wasn't my fault and you know it wasn't. But who's my mum going to believe? Me, the one who the call is going to be regarding, or my sister who has injuries all over her face? I don't know what to do.

Sunoo placed his arm around my neck as he began to respond.

Sunoo: I think you should go, and maybe try telling your mum the truth. If something does go wrong just call me, alright? I gave you my number earlier didn't I?

Mina: Thank you, Sunoo.

Ending the conversation there as we had to part ways and go the separate changing rooms.

Opening the door, to be met with no one, just everyone's bags and coats. Looking back inside, everyone else was packing up all the equipment.

Do I really want to go to the detention and face even more punishment at home? No, I can't, I don't want to.

Grabbing my bags, I decided to make a run for it. On my way to school today, I did take note of a park, I'll just stay there for a bit to then figure out what to do.

TIME SKIP

5:40pm. That's what the time read. I was currently sat on a park bench, with my airpods in. I had nowhere to go except home, which is where I didn't want to go. Everyday has been some sort of adventure, not in a good way, since we landed here. I wanna go back home, even if my life still wasn't amazing, it was doable, I had really good friends, Aerum was a great person, Heeseung treated us both equally.

I wish my dad was still here, even if he left us, maybe if he stopped doing what he was doing at the time, then maybe none of this would've happened. He still cared for us, but mum shut him out.

Shaking these thoughts away, I sat up to look at my surroundings. That's when a figure caught my eyes. Leaning against a tree, that stood pretty close to me, staring at me. was a man. He smiled at me and then made his way next to me.

The man was tall, was what I first realised, his hair being pretty long, black with blonde streaks in it. His clothes, a bomber jacket and denim jeans.

I stared at him all the way till he sat down next to me. Then deciding to start a conversation since it looked like he wanted to.

Mina: Hello?

??: Ahh, you speak english, where are you from?

Mina: I'm from england but I can speak korean too. How can you speak english?

??: I think I did see you today, you were playing on the other team weren't you, during basketball?

Mina: Oh yeah, I do remember your face, you did look familiar. Sorry, it's been a long day that's why I didn't acknowledge you.

??: That's okay, you're Mina right? I'm Beomgyu.

He said as he put his hand out for me to shake.

I shook my hand with his.

Mina: Yeah, nice to meet you.

THIRD PERSON/ SWITCH TO NIKI, HEESEUNG AND AERUM

Niki: Yeah okay mum, we'll go home together. Okay, bye.

Heeseung: What was she saying?

Niki: That she wants to see all 4 of us home, together.

Aerum: Um, that might be a problem. Mina's not inside the changing rooms.

Heeseung: She might be in the toilets.

Aerum: Let me check.

Less than a minute later, she returned, shaking her head at the boys.

Aerum: She's not there. She wasn't in there when we first entered the changing rooms either, I was going to apologise to her but she's not there.

Ni-ki: Heeseung, ask Sunoo since he was with her.

Heeseung: Why don't you ask him?

Ni-ki: Just do it.

Heeseung: Sunoo.

He exclaimed making his way towards him in the changing rooms.

Heeseung: Where did Mina go from the nurse's office?

Sunoo: She came with me, and got changed. Why? Is she not in there?

Sunoo asked, shocked. He thought she'd listen to him and go to the detention and tell their mum the truth.

Ni-ki: She can't be in detention yet since it starts at 4 and the p.e teacher would've taken her there.

Sunoo: That's true, so where is she?

Jake: Someone try calling her.

Ni-ki: I'll do it.

He called Mina and put it on speaker, so the other could hear.

Heeseung: No answer. What is wrong with her?

Aerum: Let's just ask reception if she's gone or not? That way at least we'll have confirmation.

They quickly approached office, in need of knowing if the young girl had left the school already or not.

Heeseung: Did Mina leave already?

Reception lady: Who's Mina?

Heeseung: A girl around this height (putting his arm out), oh the new girl who just joined today.

Reception lady: Oh her, yeah she left a few minutes ago, didn't say anything just walked out. I thought it was the end of her lesson but realised after, that no one else came behind her.

Heeseung: Thank you.

Ni-ki: What are we going to do?

Jungwon: I would help but I have to go, mum wants me back home now.

Ni-ki kissed his teeth at Jungwon's excuse. Jungwon saw it but chose not to act upon it as there was already enough going on, a fight would just make things worse. Rolling his eyes, he walked away.

Sunoo: Me too, I'll keep calling her though. Let me know if you find her.

Heeseung nodded at him, as the boy walked away.

Heeseung: Guess that just leaves me, Ni-ki, Aerum, Jay and Jake.

Ni-ki: Where did Sunghoon go?

Jay: Dad called him to come home earlier, no idea why.

Heeseung: Right, we'll have to split up to check town. I know she won't go that far, especially with a leg that's injured. She's around her somewhere.

Ni-ki: I agree, Me, Jay and Jake will look on the east side of town whilst you two look at the other.

Aerum: Let's go.
