Heeseung, Aerum, and Mina walked home from school, the crispy air filling their lungs as they shared laughter and playful banter. The sun hung low in the sky, casting a golden hue over the neighborhood.Heeseung: Hey, did you see the look on Mr. Lee's face when I answered that question wrong in P.E?
Heeseung chuckled, shaking his head.
Aerum: Yeah, it was hilarious! (grinning) I thought he was going to explode.
Mina rolled her eyes playfully.
Mina: You two are terrible. At least I managed to get a few answers right. I'm practically a genius compared to you!
Heeseung nudged her with his elbow.
Heeseung: For once out of a trillion times, you got an answer right, I'll give it to you, genius.
Mina: Shut up!
Mina laughed, trying to push him away.
Mina: I was just distracted by your annoying faces!
Heeseung gasped, holding his heart.
Heeseung: My face is beautiful, thank you very much.
As they continued walking, Heeseung paused for a moment, looking at his sisters with a soft smile.
Heeseung: You know, I'm really grateful for you guys. Even when you're annoying, I wouldn't trade you for anything.
Aerum: Stop being cheesy, it's weird.
Aerum glanced at him, her expression turning serious for a moment.
Aerum: But I do feel the same way. I know we can bicker, but I love having you both around.
Mina nodded, her voice thoughtful.
Mina: And even though I'm not your biological sister, I'm so thankful that you treat me like one. It means a lot.
Curiosity sparked in Mina's eyes.
Mina: So, how did you both find out that I'm not really your sister?
The question hung in the air, and a sudden silence fell over them as memories flooded back. Heeseung's expression changed, and he began to speak, his voice low.
Heeseung: Do you remember that day after school when you and Aerum had that fight?
FLASHBACK
Mina dashed up the stairs, her heart pounding and tears streaming down her cheeks. The fight with her sister at school replayed in her mind, each word echoing painfully. She slammed the door to her room and collapsed onto her bed, burying her face in her pillow, trying to muffle her sobs.
Meanwhile, Aerum stood at the foot of the stairs, torn between comforting his sister and responding to their mother's call.
Aerum: Mum, can I just—
She started, but their mother's voice cut through the air.
Hana: Aerum! Heeseung! Come to the living room, please. I have important news.
Heeseung glanced at Aerum, confusion written all over his face.
Heeseung: What's going on?
Aerum: I don't know, but it must be serious.
Aerum replied, following Heeseung into the living room.
Their mother sat on the couch, her expression grave.
Hana: Sit you two... (sighs) I received a call from the police this morning. I didn't want to tell you guys this since I didn't want you to react in a bad way but I guess I have to now.
