Chapter 16: Thank you

Mina: Ni-ki, I'll be back soon. Don't wait for me.

Mina said, grabbing her bag and spraying a bit of her favourite perfume.

Ni-ki: Where are you going at this time in the night?

Mina: Oh um, I'm going to Eunsoo's real quick since she's a bit upset right now.

Ni-ki: You better not be lying to me.

He stared, deep within Mina's eyes. The room was enveloped in a profound silence.

Mina: I-I'm not lying.

She said, breaking the eye contact.

Mina: I'll be back soon.

Heading towards her window, exiting her room.

The current time read 12:45. Great, only a few more hours till school starts and I haven't slept, Mina thought.

Mina had just reached Jake's house as hs had called her over for an urgent matter.

KNOCK KNOCK

The door opened revealing Jake, his face showcasing furrowed brows and a tensed jaw, his eyes slightly teared.

Mina: Jake... what happened?

Jake: Come in, quick and please be quiet walking, my parents are asleep.

Mina nodded following Jake to his room, carefully trying not to make a sound.

Entering his room, she noticed how much of a mess it was, his pc on the floor, smashed. Clothes everywhere.

Mina: What happened here?

Jake sniffled before answering.

Jake: Mina, (sniffles and exhales) you can't tell anyone, okay?

Mina: Don't worry I won't. Tell me what's up.

The two of them sat on his bed, before Jake explained.

Jake: My parents, they're making me move to another country.

Mina: Jake.. but it won't be the same without you.

Jake: I know, and on top of that they're um, oh god (cries).

Mina quickly wrapped her arms around his neck, slowly running her fingers through his hair with one hand, the other rubbing his back.

Mina: Take your time, no rush.

Mina also felt upset about him moving away, she'd known him for around a while now, she was one of her closest friends who she cared for so deeply. She wasn't ready to let him go already.

Jake: They-they've found someone, who they want me.. to marry.

Jake's cries increase whilst Mina, her heart dropped at his words. Marriage? Why did that word hurt her.

Mina: Wait wait wait, WHAT? Marriage?! But you're too young.

Jake: I know and I don't like her at all, I like someone else. I don't know what to do, Mina.

Her eyes teared upon hearing her best friend's story, not only that but the fact that he mentioned him liking someone else. Why did that hurt her so much? She blinked her tears away, pushing the feeling aside, pulling away from him.
