10 / ADMIRING FROM AFAR
my girl, my girl✹
third pov.
Numi woke up to the warmth of Meliodas' arm draped over her, his grip firm even in sleep. Carefully, she pried his arm off, hearing a low groan escape his lips. She glanced at his face, half-expecting his green eyes to flutter open, but he remained in a deep slumber. Waking up before him was rare-an opportunity she wasn't about to waste. Quickly, she slipped into a casual outfit, stealing one last glance at him. A small smile tugged at her lips as she watched him, his usually sharp features softened in sleep. He seemed so peaceful, so unlike the infuriating man she knew when he was awake.
The Boar Hat was eerily quiet, its usual ruckus replaced by the soft hum of silence. For once, she craved simplicity—a day without obligations or prying eyes.
Moving silently, she made her way to Ban's room. She didn't bother knocking, pushing the door open with a force that betrayed her impatience. Inside, Ban was sprawled across the bed, snoring obnoxiously. Numi rolled her eyes at the sight of him, a smirk playing on her lips as she approached. She began tapping his forehead with the rhythm of someone who refused to be ignored.
"Ban," she hissed, her voice a mixture of annoyance and urgency. "Ban, wake up."
Ban groaned, his brows knitting together as he swatted her hand away. "Go away," he muttered, his voice groggy and filled with the resentment of being disturbed.
"That's rude," she pouted, her hand resuming its assault on his forehead. "Wake up."
"Why?" His tone was clipped, but Numi wasn't deterred.
"I want to go to town," she declared, her tone as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Ban cracked an eye open, looking at her through the haze of sleep and the hangover from the previous night's drinking. "Then go," he grumbled.
Numi crossed her arms, her expression hardening into a glare. "Will you come with me?"
"Why do I have to go with you?" He finally sat up, rubbing his temples and eyeing her with suspicion.
"Meliodas said I can't go to town by myself," she admitted, her frustration leaking into her voice. "He said that if I did, he'd make me work at the tavern again."
Numi had quit working since Elizabeth arrived, she was much better with the customers. She only cleaned here and there to help out but stayed as far away as she could from the customers that stopped by.
Ban stared at her, his face contorting in an expression that screamed 'still not my problem.'
"He never said I couldn't go with someone else," Numi countered quickly, her eyes narrowing as she leaned closer. "And who better to accompany me than someone he trusts? Someone I trust."
