"You summoned me mother", the sleepy voice of her eldest child of the queen called, snapping her out of her thoughts. Rhaenyra didn't answer her son Jacaerys for she knew what she was about to tell him would anger him. And he had somehow taken after his stepfather Daemon Targaryen with his ill temper.

"My son, I'm so sorry for waking you. But I have news, news that concerns you", she started, motioning for him to sit beside her on her bed. Jace let out a dramatic yawn, his dark curls a mess, "go on then", he replied doing his best to sound interested. "Jacerys sit up this is important", Rhaenyra snapped, then instantly regretted it. She knew she wouldn't be able to see her son for some time, knew that what she was about to make him do was unfair.

The least she could do as his mother was not take out the stress she felt out on her beloved son. Jace sits up, putting a hand on his mother's shoulder, sensing that something was bothering her. "What is this news mother, it mustn't be anything good, you look as if you could vomit at any moment". Jace the insightful he shall be known as, Rhaenyra thought to herself.

"As you know I've been sending out ravens...", she began a lump rising in her throat. Jace nodded, "yes yes you and your ravens mother", he said with a small grin, attempting to raise his mother spirits as they were beginning to rub off on him. "I sent some to...to House Smitherman about..." The young prince despite his best efforts was growing annoyed with his mother and queen.

A war was happening, the closest person to him brutally slain. He needed his rest if he was to avenge Luke and insure that his queen mother sat the iron throne. Jace suddenly grew thirsty due to the heavy look his mother had given him. He took a drink of the wine he had set on his mother's night stand a couple hours before.
"Do get on with it mother, you're really worrying me", he said his voice scratchy.
"I will not risk another...incident like the one we witnessed in the past. And though our efforts were unsuccessful-

"Brutally might I add", Jace interrupted, taking another sip of his wine. Rhaenyra narrowed her eyes in annoyance, "yes brutally but despite that, I am willing to try again. But in a different way, a different approach. We need more dragons, more men to help fight for our cause, you know that. House Smitherman has agreed to lend us Morningstar, The Abomination along with their army", she finished, relieved that she was half way through with this ordeal.

Jace narrowed his eyes, he sensed something, and traced it back to what his mother had said earlier "news with you". He figured whatever business, whatever deal his mother had made it had something to do with him. He swallowed another mouthfull of the wine, feeling the anger that he couldn't quite seem to tame ever since Luke died rise up to choke him. "And what in the seven hells are we-you supposed to give Vaximus in turn, nothing ever is simple with those selfish heathens", he stated with an eyeroll. Rhaenyra grabbed her son's hand tears welling in her eyes, she hated herself for this, hated Melasaria for ever even mentioning this rash idea.

"You Jacaerys, my son, my heir he wants you". "Me to what", he questioned, reaching for his throat with his free hand. The anger inside really was determined to make its way out, to be expelled. Rhaenyra felt as if she would be sick at any moment, "to...to unite our houses through marriage, to marry his daughter".
