"Violet", Jacerys yelled rushing to the window that his betrothed had just flung herself out of. Was the idea of the two marrying so bad that the girl opted to kill herelf instead he thought. Sure he wasn't happy about this arrangement either, but he'd never choose to leave his loved ones and cut his own life so short.

But to the prince's shock and amazement Violet hadn't killed herself. She instead had flung herself on to the back of her dragon Morningstar. Lightening cracked in the distance, illuminating the pair and to Jacaerys the sight before him looked like a painting out of a fairytale. He hadn't even realized he was holding his breath, hadn't even realized his heart thundering in his chest.

Who was this Smitherman girl, this crazed ruby-eyed dragon rider. "She's gone", Jacaerys said breathlessly, watching Morningstar take his betrothed away into the night. "She sure does know how to make an exit", Julian cooed from behind him, causing everyone in the room to eye him warily. At this Julian let out a nervous chuckle and swiftly left the room along with guards.

"She'll be back...in a bout a week or two", Vaximus stated in a defeated tone, finally letting in the reality of the ruin of the great room sink in. "A week or two", Jacaerys snapped whipping around to face them, "I do not have a week or two, I must make her my wife now that was the deal". Vaylen eyed his father taking a sip of the lone goblet of wine his sister hadn't drank or poured on an innocent bystander.

"Right about that, the queen and my father have agreed to this betrothal and in turn House Smitherman will aid you in your...cause. But there's a small detail my father has clearly forgotten to mention". The prince clinched his jaw, thumbing the hilt of his sword, "and what pray tell is this small detail"? Vaximus suddenly snapping out of his thoughts of despair about his favorite room, "my daughter does not wish to marry...anyone. She has always been sure about that. Countless suitors have fought her in our arena for her hand, all have failed and died terribly. If you want to marry Violet and reap the benefits you will have to kill her".

Jace Pov:

Kill her? What in the seven hells does that even mean begin to mean, I thought. About three hours had passed since Violet had fled, and my being informed that if I wished to fulfill my duty as heir I'd have to kill Violet. Thankfully not actually kill her, more so her "soul" as Vaximus put it. He said that she took entirely too much pride in her abilities in battle, as she had never been beaten, not even by Julian who was one of the best swordsman around. "She'll hate it with all of her hear, but she won't be able to deny the only man thats ever defeated her".

I was lost. What was I to do? Julian was said to be as skilled as that leech Ser Criston Cole, and as violent as my stepfather Daemon. And yes I had been trained by both of them, but I would be a fool to think that I stood a chance against a girl who had actually killed before. I'd never met a girl that's taken a life, let alone many. And from what I've gathered, she probably didn't bat an eye when she did so.

"Here we are, your highness", a maid in little to nothing said, snapping me out of my thoughts. I thanked her and shut the door to my new for room for the next...I don't even know. But what I did know was that I'd be damned if I waited a week or more for Violet to return. Vaylen said it was pointless to go after her, something they themselves had given up long ago, as they could never manage to track her down.

But I liked a challenge, always had and I was bored out of mind. So it made perfect sense to sneak out of The Heavans and search for my betrothed. "Oh Vermax what have I gotten us into now", I say to him patting him on his flank. He screeched in reply, happy to take flight with me again.

Much to my disappointment, it began to rain heavily, soaking me to the bone. A shiver ran down my spine, maybe it wasn't worth it, maybe I should just wait for Violet to return. Or give up all together and go home. But Luke's eyes flashed in my mind, no I couldn't. I had to do this for him.

"She won't marry you", a voice says form behind me. I turn around to see Julian's arm crossed and out of breath, as if he had just been running. "I'm her closest friend, so I her deepest desires and it isn't to marry you", his voice entirely too hostile for my liking. I can feel the influence of Daemon creep up upon me, but I doused it, opting to be more like my mother. "She'll soon change her mind", I say out of pure spite. Did I actually believe I could sway Violet into marrying me, of course not. But that wasn't for Julian to know, he had been giving me a foul look ever since I'd arrived. Julian chuckles dryly, "good luck", he remarks smugly.

"Soves Vermax", I say in High Valyrian and then we were off to find a mad girl.
