All eyes were on the beautiful girl, as she descended the palace stairs and walked gracefully over to them on the beach. Violet looked like she stepped right out of a painting. She was barefoot, her ginger locs loosly tied up, cascading down her exposed back. The silky blue low waisted skirt she wore had leg slits going way higher than her father liked. And the top was made of melted sea glass that somehow sculpted her breast perfectly. The head piece might as well of been a crown and that was made from pearls, sea shells and diamonds.
Jacaerys couldn't look away, even though he thought he should've. To him Violet looked like a fairy or better yet a mermaid. "Bloody hell", he muttered under his breath, his body a buzz from the ale he'd drank and possibly from something else. There were a few empty seats, one by Julian, one by Vaximus, one by Vaylen's whore Leah and one by his self(a seat he practically had to fight to keep vacant much, to the blonde woman's he'd danced with earlier dismay). A burst of liquid courage ran through Jacaerys, making him stand up, a little unsteady on his feet.
"Violet, my betrothed...I saved you a seat. Make my night and sit with me", the boy spoke aloud, glassy eyes only on her. And now everyone was looking at Jace's innocently, inviting, smiling face. It would be cruel of Violet to embarrass the boy by ignoring him and choosing to sit somewhere else. So if only for that reason, the girl rounded the table and sat beside the prince.
Jace Pov:
Gods I am quite the charmer, I hope Luke is seeing this, I thought as I took another bite of my meat pie. I was quite delighted and surprised that Violet had actually sat beside me. Maybe I was actually getting through to her, maybe she didn't hate me anymore. These people have no manners, I thought, as I watched the savages eat with no utensils. I screw up my face in disgust, when I noticed a lady chewing with her mouth open in the most obnoxious way. Even Violet was scarfing down her pastries with her bare hands, wiping the filling from her mouth with her hand, rather than a rag. But for whatever reason, I didn't really mind. Violet was enjoying herself here with me, and not locked away in that damned tower, so I couldn't really complain.
"I'd like to make a toast, to my dear Violet", Julian suddenly said standing up, goblet raised. By instinct my jaw clenches, and I smoosh the berry that I was considering throwing at Violet to get her attention as she hadn't even so much as glanced at me since she sat down. The chattering quit, and even Violet payed attention to this irritating mongrel. "And I should like to to toast to the prince, the Bastard of Dragonstone", Julian slurred with a smirk, earning a few chuckles.
I felt like jumping over the table and killing Julian with my bare hands, maybe cutting out his tongue. But I don't, I was outnumbered twenty to one and my being a prince or having Vermax didn't matter to them. I side eye Violet and I can tell Julian's words don't really bother her, she was probably enjoying this like the rest of her barbaric people. "I give this arrangement my blessing so long as after you consummate the marriage, I get to fuck her next".
Violet Pov:
Julian, Julian you're such a dog, I thought, chuckling. But I couldn't do much else besides that, due to Jacaerys slamming both hands on the table and getting to his feet. "You mind your tongue or I shall have it savage", Jacaerys seethed. Quickly I grabbed the hand that wasn't going for his sword, trying to communicate to Jace to stand down. Jacaery's eyes find mine, and it was obvious he was losing the battle to his temper, as he clenched my hand tightly. I noticed that Jace wasn't in his usual Targaryen clothes, he had somehow gotten his hands on a Smitherman tunic with the chest exposed. His curls were pushed back and shiny like he'd really put a lot of effort into them, the cut on his lip had scabbed over giving him a rugged "devil may care" aura about him. He looks...nice like he belongs here. Too bad he doesn't and never will.
"I should like to see you try. I think we all would boy", Julian challenged. I heard Vaylen sigh, and my father, whose face had been expressionless this whole time, smirked the tiniest bit. I blinked and suddenly Jacaerys had jumped over the table and on to Julian, sending them both crashing into the sand. "This should be good", my father said laughing some. "Julian is drunk father stop this at once", I say with pleading eyes. But it was no use, everyone was cheering now, "kill him, kill him dead" over and over again.
Usually I would be cheering along to, I loved watching a fight almost as much as I loved being in one. But this was different, Julian was my closest friend and Jace was...the prince and I had no intention of dealing with his mother's wrath. Gods forbid the queen had her lap dogs saw off someone else's head. Once they finally let each other up from wrestling, Julian knocked his head against Jace's and it sent him crashing to the ground, making him and the crowd laugh. But he wasn't laughing for long, due to Jace kicking in Julian's knee with more force than I thought he was capable of. A sickening cracking sound followed, a bloody bone peaked out from the back of Julian's knee. Julian fell into the sand screaming like mad, and Jace drew his sword, cursing.
"Jacaerys stop", I yell, the cheering ended, the only sound being Julian's moaning. "I will not let him talk about you that way Violet", Jacaerys fumed, lip now bleeding profusely. "It's just our way, you're not in the crown lands anymore Jace", I explained, my hand on the hilt of my dagger. I was prepared to stop Jace if he tried to hurt Julian anymore than he had already.
"Really? Well this is the new way, so listen closely all of you. So long as you are my betrothed you are to be treated and talked about with respect. If anyone has anything bad to say, you can say it to or about me. Gods know I've heard it all already. Is that clear", Jace asked aloud, his voice more confident than I've ever heard it. The tension in the air was thick, Vermax roared over head as if threatening to burn anyone that opposed his rider. Jace wasn't looking at Julian anymore, he was looking at my father, and I think in some way they were communicating without saying anything. A battle for respect it seemed, and Jace had won.
My father suddenly started clapping, and everyone else clapped to. "We may make a man of you yet Jacaerys Velaryon. Savagery looks good on you", my father says smiling genuinely. Jacaerys looks over at me, curls a mess, eyes still a blaze, his shirt now completely ripped open, exposing a bruised surprisingly toned torso. Gods, father really didn't hold back. Why won't you just go home Jacaerys?
Julian groans again, "you bastard when I-"
"Shaddup", Jacaerys interrupts, and then does something I'd never forget. He spit the blood from his mouth at Julian, a Smitherman custom. It was a tradition for the winner of a fight to spit blood on the loser, it was like a big "fuck you" to them. The crowd cheered again but it didn't seem to affect Jace in the slightest. This wasn't some performance for him, this was real. I watched him grab a bottle of wine and walk away, toward Vermax who was waiting for him in the distance. Cressida a whore of a blonde woman said, "Gods Violet, if you don't marry that boy I sure as hell will".
~.~.~.~.~Au: boom another chapter. I might change this one a little. I feel like the fight could've lasted a little longer. Anyway hope you enjoyed. Someone tell Cressida to back off! Vote and comment plz!
