Kara Zor-El spent the next month immersing herself in the Fortress of Solitude. Under the watchful guidance of the Eradicator, she honed her powers and learned about her heritage through countless hours of training and studying video archives of her cousin, Kal-El. Each video showcased Superman's heroism, kindness, and unwavering sense of justice, fueling her determination to honor his legacy.
During this time, Cal often visited to check in on her progress. Despite his own busy schedule as Nighman, he found time to support Kara, sharing his experiences and encouraging her efforts.
One evening, Cal arrived at the Fortress, finding Kara in the training room, practicing her heat vision. The air was filled with the sound of crackling energy as she expertly focused her beams on a series of targets.
“Hey, Kara,” Cal called out, stepping inside.
Kara turned, her face lighting up with a smile. “Cal! Just in time. I was about to take a break. How’s everything going?”
Cal grinned. “Busy, but good. How about you? You’re looking pretty sharp with that heat vision.”
Kara laughed, wiping sweat from her brow. “Thanks. I’ve been working hard. The Eradicator has been an incredible teacher. I feel like I’m finally getting a handle on my powers.”
Cal nodded. “I can see that. And speaking of the Eradicator, he’s been busy helping me too. He’s set up a base for me here in Metropolis.”
Kara’s eyes widened in surprise. “Really? That’s amazing! Tell me more.”
“Well,” Cal began, “the Eradicator transferred a significant amount of money into my account, enough to keep me comfortable and discreet. Then, he manipulated the lottery numbers so I could maintain a low profile. He even bought an abandoned building and outfitted it with Kryptonian tech.”
Kara’s jaw dropped. “That’s incredible. So you have your own base now?”
Cal nodded. “Yeah, it’s pretty awesome. It has everything I need to operate effectively in the city. And it’s thanks to the Eradicator’s help.”
The Eradicator, who had been monitoring their conversation, spoke up. “It is essential that both of you have the resources necessary to protect Metropolis. Nighman’s base will serve as a secondary point of defense, ensuring that you can respond to threats quickly and efficiently.”
Kara smiled appreciatively. “Thank you, Eradicator. For everything.”
The Eradicator’s holographic form bowed slightly. “It is my duty to assist the House of El. Now, Kara, there is something I wish to show you.”
Curious, Kara followed the Eradicator to a different part of the Fortress, with Cal by her side. They entered a large, circular room where a massive screen displayed various scenes from Krypton’s history.
“This is the Hall of Memories,” the Eradicator explained. “It contains the collective knowledge and history of Krypton. I believe it is time for you to explore it, Kara. It is your birthright.”
Kara’s eyes filled with wonder as she looked around. “Thank you. This means a lot to me.”
Cal placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “Take your time, Kara. There’s so much for you to discover.”
As Kara delved into the Hall of Memories, Cal and the Eradicator left her to explore in peace. Back in the main hall, Cal spoke with the Eradicator.
“She’s doing great,” Cal said. “I’m really proud of her.”
The Eradicator nodded. “Kara Zor-El is a remarkable individual. Her potential is immense, and with time, she will become a formidable protector of this world.”
