Over the next few days, things at Cal’s base began to shift. The Eradicator had sent a Kryptonian robot, designed to care for and protect Lois Lane. Its primary function was to ensure her safety and comfort, and it operated seamlessly within the advanced technology of the base.
Cal found himself increasingly busy. Lois was settling in, and the robot’s presence allowed him to focus more on his duties and training. Kara had called, requesting a sparring session, and Cal was eager to see her progress.
He arrived at the Fortress of Solitude, where Kara was already waiting in the holographic training room. The room could simulate any environment or opponent, making it ideal for honing their abilities.
“Ready to get started?” Kara asked, a confident smile on her face.
“Absolutely,” Cal replied, matching her grin.
They began sparring, their movements a blur of speed and power. Kara’s punches carried the force of a train, and her combat skills were quickly becoming formidable. It turned out that on Krypton, Kara was meant to be a high-ranking soldier, so combat came naturally to her.
Despite her strength, Cal held his own, using his telekinetic and telepathic abilities to anticipate and counter her attacks. The fight was intense, but it was clear they both enjoyed the challenge.
After a particularly fierce exchange, they paused, catching their breath. Kara wiped sweat from her brow, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
“You’ve gotten strong,” Cal said, admiration in his voice.
“You’re not so bad yourself,” Kara replied with a wink. “I guess I was trained for this on Krypton. Combat feels like second nature to me.”
Cal nodded. “You’re a natural.”
Kara’s expression turned thoughtful. “I’ve been wondering about the Justice League. Who are they, exactly?”
Cal took a moment to gather his thoughts. “Well, there’s Wonder Woman. She’s a warrior with incredible strength and skill. The Flash, who’s the fastest man alive. Aquaman, the king of Atlantis. Green Lantern, who wields a powerful ring that can create anything he imagines.”
Kara’s eyes widened. “They sound amazing.”
“They are,” Cal agreed. “But there’s one you should stay away from—Batman.”
Kara frowned. “Why? Who is he?”
Cal’s expression darkened. “Batman’s a different kind of hero. He’s incredibly smart, but he’s also ruthless. He doesn’t trust easily, and he’s always prepared for the worst. He can hurt you, and if he does, I’ll hurt him.”
Kara smiled at his protective tone. “I appreciate that. But why don’t you like him?”
Cal sighed. “We’ve crossed paths before. He’s not someone I trust. He’s too secretive, too paranoid. And he has a way of getting under your skin.”
Kara chuckled. “Sounds like he’s met his match in you.”
“Maybe,” Cal said, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. “Just be careful if you ever encounter him.”
“I will,” Kara promised. “But enough about Batman. Let’s get back to training.”
They resumed their sparring, pushing each other to new limits. Cal could see how much Kara had grown in such a short time, and it filled him with pride. As the session drew to a close, they stood in the center of the room, breathing heavily but smiling.
“You’ve done great, Kara,” Cal said. “You’re ready for anything.”
“Thanks, Cal,” Kara replied. “I feel more prepared than ever. And with you by my side, I know we can handle whatever comes our way.”
