•Angeline's POV•
The city lights of LA sparkled outside my hotel room window as I settled onto the bed, phone in hand. My heart fluttered with a mix of excitement and nerves as I tapped the Facetime icon. Moments later, Nick, Chris, and Alahna's faces filled the screen, their familiar smiles providing a comforting reminder of home.
"Hey guys!" I greeted them, trying to mask my excitement. "I've got so much to fill you in on!"
"Hey, Angeline!" Nick's smile was warm, his eyes bright. "We've been dying to hear all about it. How did the meetings go?"
I leaned back against the headboard, feeling a sense of accomplishment. "So, I met with three record labels yesterday. It was nerve-wracking but incredible. I ended up signing with StarRise!"
Nick's eyes widened with excitement. "That's awesome! Congratulations!"
Chris and Alahna exchanged impressed looks. "How was the signing dinner?" Chris asked.
"It was great," I said, my smile widening. "The team at StarRise is amazing. They made me feel so welcome and excited about the future."
Alahna's gaze shifted to her phone screen. "I saw your Instagram story. You reposted that picture from StarRise's account, right? The one from the dinner?"
I nodded. "Yeah that's right"
Alahna's eyes narrowed playfully. "I couldn't help but notice the guy sitting next to you in that picture. He seemed pretty good-looking."
My cheeks flushed slightly, and I shrugged. "Oh, you mean Eli? He's part of a brother-sister duo signed to StarRise too. His sister Dani and he are really nice. We're going to hang out throughout the week."
Nick and Chris leaned in, their curiosity piqued. "So, what's the deal with Eli and Dani?" Nick asked.
"They're cool," I said, keeping my tone casual. "They sing and make music together. We just hit it off, they're our age and live here so they're excited to show me around."
Alahna's eyes twinkled with mischief. "He's definitely good-looking. Is there anything more going on between you two?"
I hesitated before responding, choosing my words carefully. "Yeah, he is, but we're just friends. Nothing serious."
Nick, Chris, and Alahna exchanged knowing looks. "Are you sure there's nothing else?" Alahna asked gently. "You seem a bit... distracted."
I sighed but had a small smile on my face. "Alright, there was a bit of flirting, but that's all. I'm still not over Matt, and I'm not ready to jump into anything right now."
Nick and Chris visibly relaxed. "We're happy to hear that," Nick said. "Just remember, we want you to be happy. Don't completely shut yourself off."
I noticed that Nick and Chris still seemed a bit uneasy, but I decided not to bring it up. "Thanks, guys. I promise I'm taking things slow."
We chatted for a while longer, catching up and sharing stories. I felt a sense of normalcy despite being so far from home, I miss them. Eventually, we ended the call, and I closed my laptop with a sigh of relief. It was good to hear their voices.
