Song recs: Meant To Be- Ber & Charlie Oriain (The perfect song for this)

Angeline's POV

I glanced around the table, my heart swelling with excitement and a touch of nervousness. Everyone was here for my album release dinner: the triplets, Eli, Dani, and me. We were at this cozy little restaurant, the kind that made you feel at home with its warm lighting and friendly atmosphere.

Matt had been sitting next to me, and we'd been talking all night. He was so easy to talk to, and it felt like old times. I noticed Eli watching us a few times, his eyes narrowing slightly, but I tried to ignore it. Tonight was supposed to be special.

As dessert arrived, I couldn't help but feel jittery. My album was dropping at midnight, and it felt surreal. I'd poured my heart and soul into those songs, and now the world was about to hear them.

•Eli's POV•

I tried to focus on my dessert, but my eyes kept drifting to Angeline and Matt. They'd been talking non-stop, laughing, and sharing memories. It was driving me insane. How much longer could I sit here and watch them act like they were the only two people in the room?

I loved Angeline, but I couldn't ignore the obvious connection she still had with Matt. Every smile she gave him, every laugh, felt like a stab to my heart. I clenched my fists under the table, trying to keep my cool.

Angeline's POV

After dinner, we all stood outside the restaurant saying our goodbyes. I hugged everyone, feeling their support and excitement for me. Matt's hug lingered a bit longer, his hands resting on my back as he whispered, "I'm proud of you."

I smiled, my heart doing a little flip. "Thanks, Matt. It means a lot."

Eli and I headed back to my apartment. I was buzzing with excitement, talking a mile a minute about how I couldn't wait for the album to be out. But I could sense something was off with Eli. His responses were short, and his expression was tight.

"What's wrong?" I finally asked, my voice barely above a whisper as I stopped in the middle of the living room. "You've been quiet all night."

Eli's shoulders slumped as he sighed deeply, rubbing the back of his neck with a nervous hand.

"I can't do this anymore, Angeline. Watching you and Matt... I can tell there's still something between you two."

The room seemed to close in on me. I felt my stomach drop, my heart sinking.
