Peridot's POV

I just screamed at the top of my lungs, causeing my vocal chords to nearly tear at the tension. Garnet and Amethyst had stepped back at my sudden out burst, they both looked surprised. Only then had I realized what I just said. I gulped and waited for a response from them. They looked to eachother before Garnet began, "Peridot, they're not going to hurt you," Amethyst picked up, "I wont let that happen-" "We, wont let that happen." Garnet corrected, holding a hand out to me. "I-I know you don't want to, but- You could be one of us. Either way, we're gonna protect you. Whaddya say?" Amethyst offered, Garnet still had her hand reached out to me, I looked to Amethyst then Garnet again with unbelieving eyes and hesitantly took hold of Garnet's hand. She pulled me up off the ground to face her. She was smiling again, yet not as annoying as last time, as she looked down at me, I could see her three eyes through her shades. If you look very closely, you could see their reflections behind the eyes, Ruby looked as happy as Sapphire. All of a sudden, she pulled me close into another tight squeezing, I started to smile and Amethyst joined in, squeezing both of us. I still had no idea of what that is, but I liked it.
I cant belive they actually care about me. They're willing to try to protect me and welcome me with open arms after all I did and tryed to do to them, they still forgave me. Even Ruby. It was...sweet. even though, lets face the facts here, we are all gonna get killed, but it'd be worth it, I finally found a family. Maybe the Crystal Gems weren't so bad after all.
For the rest of the night we all just walked around Amethyst's room, looking for stuff to do and when we found something interesting, we'd just have...fun. I was beginning to like this new life.

Steven's POV

I woke up the next day in my bed with my sheets flung entirely off the frame.
"Aw, again?" I muttered fustratively as I groggily jumped out of bed to place the sheets back on the mattress. I looked over to my alarm clock, it was late. I must've gotten to sleep early in the morning or something. After I spread the sheets back on the bed evenly, I started down the stairs, yawning.
My tired eyes made everthing blurry as I stepped into the kitchen, I called for Pearl to help make me breakfast. After no response I looked down and muttered to myself, "oh, yeah..." I shook the sad reminder away as I opened up the fridge. Inside, the first thing to catch my attention was my favorite cereal box, Lucky Charms. I grabbed the box excitedly and quickly opened it up. But to my disappointment, it was empty. "Amethyst.." I grumbled, throwing the box away in the small steel cilinder trash can. I looked in the fridge again, since Pearl wasn't here to fix breakfast, I had to just choose something random or at least filling. I spotted a big blueberry muffin in the back. As I reached for it, I was interupted by hearing a low rumble coming from the above and I noticed a bright neon orange hue in the sky. I turned around, looking fully into the window. I saw a giant orange right hand ship pointing straight at the temple. "Aaaaaaah, guys?" I called out to behind me, "Guys! Guys, guys, guys!" I yelled as I ran backwards, tripping and scrambling up to shut the fridge door. I continued to run up to the temple door, once there, I started banging on it.
"Uh, guys! We got a problem!" I yelled into the door, waiting for a response. After awhile, the door was finally opened up by Garnet, Amethyst was behind her and...Peridot? She looked like she just had the funnest time of her life. She was grinning from ear to ear but her joyful expression quickly deadpanned when she saw the giant hand ship out in the sky. "What is it, Stevey?" Amethyst asked, trying to lighten the serious look on my face. "The-" I was interupted by Peridot squealing, "They're here!! I knew they'd find me!" She tightly gripped onto Garnet's arm reflexively. "Whatcha talkin' 'bou- Woah!!" Amethyst yelled when she caught sight of the ship. "What are we going to do?" I asked Garnet, She readjusted her shades and stated, "Steven, you hide Peridot somewhere safe in the house, me and Amethyst will deal with this." "But, Garnet!" Peridot whined, still squeezing her arm. "No butts. You said they came for you, then we're not giving them you, understand?" Peridot looked to the ground and sighed, letting go of her arm and shook her head yes.
"Good." Garnet said before summoning her gautlets and sprinting outside with Amethyst following. Peridot put her hand over her face and muttered something into it but I didn't hear it. "C'mon, Peridot." I said, motioning for her to follow me back into the Temple. When in, I asked "Do you wanna hide in Amethyst's or Pearl's room?"
She scrunched up her nose when I said "Amethyst's room". And before answering, she examined the current area we were in "I think it'd be better to hide in here." And with that, she started walking forward into the room.
