Enemies to Lovers: A Lawlight Fanfiction

The Orphanage

Light and L, along with Beyond went their separate ways. Beyond and Light had struck up a strange friendship during those 18 hours in the plane. Beyond wanted to go with Light but L refused. Light had no where to go so he just wandered the streets and found a restaurant where he ate spending the little money he had stolen from his parents. An elderly man walked up to Light and asked, "Hey, child. Are you homeless? What's your name?" 

"I'm Light Yagami. And yes, I ran away from home."

"Ah. In that case do you want somewhere to stay? You can always come with me. I am Quilish Wammy. I run an orphanage for gifted children."

After mild hesitation, Light agreed to go with him. 

L and Beyond made their way to their aunt's house. Beyond voiced L's thoughts by asking, "Hey L? I thought mama and papa had a fight with Auntie Jessica. Will they even let us stay with them?" 

"I don't know, B. I guess we have to try." L knocked on the door of their aunt's house, which brought back many unwelcome memories. Jessica opened the door, saw who it was, scowled, and shut the door in their faces.  

L sighed, "I expected as much." They went to sit under a tree to rest for a while before they began their search for a hotel. B closed his eyes and relaxed but L just couldn't relax, no matter how hard he tried. After a while, B stood up and walked around L trying to get rid of the pins and needles, when a voice called, "Beyond?"

B recognized the voice and squealed, "Lightie!!" He ran to hug him and Light laughed. Wammy, who was accompanying Light asked the same thing that he had asked Light from L who had just joined them and was glaring at Light.

"I'm L Lawliet, and this is my brother Beyond Birthday. And yes, we are homeless." 

Wammy introduced himself to both and asked them to join him. L agreed, albeit reluctantly. The group of four walked to the orphanage, which was a huge building. As they entered, they saw a pair of young boys arguing. Wammy sighed and said, "Near, Mello, knock it off." Glaring at each other, they both went their separate ways. 

As Wammy showed them around, B grabbed Light's hand. Light smiled to himself, feeling as if he had found a friend after all...
