"Did I do alright?" Demi questioned after greeting Joe over the phone, she had settled down in the apartment she had over here. She spent most of her time in LA so thought it would be a good idea to get a little place for her. She was in her pyjamas already a mug of coffee in her hands as she watched something random on TV before heading off to bed. She had called Nick before to make sure that his show went alright but she knew she could be on the phone to Joe for a while so it was best to call Nick before her boyfriend.
"You did amazing Dems but there was one problem." Joe stated.
"And that was?" Demi inquired her eyebrows furrowed together, she hoped that it wasn't something serious, that he wasn't happy with how she had told everyone about their relationship. She didn't want to disappoint him.
"I wasn't in the front row to cheer you on." Joe answered making Demi smile.
"You might have been if your knee was alright." Demi answered.
"I have some news about my knee." Demi sat up on her bed, she couldn't help but worry maybe he had hurt it more. She was sure when she left that he was happy and hadn't even thought about playing football again like last time. She thought he had learnt his lesson on how much pain it gave him. He was conscious unlike when he was tackled in his last ever match.
"Good or bad?" Demi questioned.
"Good news, it's getting better and I can walk without any crutches." Joe announced bringing a smile to Demi's face once again. She liked to think that her and his mother's nagging had helped him to recover. He was just the kind of person who wanted to be up and moving but that wasn't something he could do if he wanted his knee to heal.
"That's great news Joe, who knows when it's fully healed you might be able to play a little bit of football again, it will be worth the wait trust me," Demi approved but Joe sighed making Demi slightly worried. "What's wrong?"
"I don't know if I even want to play football again now, I've been playing a lot of guitar and I'm really enjoying that so I don't think I'll want to play football again. My dad has started teaching me piano as well." Joe confessed.
"I'll teach you some piano next time were together if you'd like?" Demi suggested.
"That sounds nice." Joe admitted.
Joe and Demi spoke on the phone for over an hour before they both admitted it was probably time to hang up and get some sleep. Demi was tired from travelling and Joe just felt tired in general. Demi set her phone down on her bedside table after she had moved over to her bedroom, it was only then she realised she still had a picture of her and Wilmer up on her bedside table. She knocked the photo frame over before turning on her other side. She had just got settled when her phone started ringing again. She turned onto her side picking it up kind of confused when she saw that it was Joe again but she answered her phone.
"Joe?" Demi questioned.
"Sorry but I have something I need to tell you." Joe stated.
"And that is?" Demi questioned again playing with the bed sheets which were covering her body as she laid back on the double bed.
"I love you." Demi couldn't help but smile when she heard those words.
"I love you too Joe." Demi replied giggling when she heard him sigh of relief. She knew that she loved him back, neither of them had fallen for someone so quickly. They just wished they could be with each other now and not be hundreds of miles apart a phone call being the only way they could communicate with each other.
