The train ride to Hogwarts was always so enchanting.

Whether it was the gentle white noise of the rain hitting against the frosty windows or the smell of Chocolate Frogs wafting throughout the train's cabins, I would always love the ride.

I rest my head against one of the compartment's windows, waiting for Skye and Lennon to meet me. I had never appreciated how much I loved their company; They were the best friends a girl could have.

A rhythmic tap on the sliding door had me divert my attention from the window and onto the door. The door slid open, and in front of me was none other than Skye herself. An excited squeal left my lips unexpectedly at the sight of my best friend.

"Skye!"

"Y/n!"

We pulled each other into a close hug, her strawberry-red hair brushing my nose. I pulled back from her, my hands still on her shoulders before breaking out into a huge smile.

"I can't believe you're actually here!" I said with a wide grin plastered across my face as I took in the girl in front of me.

Skye was a Beauxbatons student until she had to transfer in her 3rd year, hence, why she's here. Running a hand through her stick-straight hair, she plopped her trunk down on the floor as she sat across from me.

"Iz 'Ogwarts fun? I mean, iz eet the same as zee Beauxbatons, or iz eet like, zotally different? Can you help show me around? I havv heard there iz zee paintings zat talk. Actually talk?" Skye babbled on in her French accent, bombarding me with millions of random questions as I nodded in return.

"Iz eet true that zee Headmaster iz like, a thousand yearz old? Like, wouldn't 'e look like a raisin by now? How come 'e iz not dead?

"Skye!" I shout with a smile on my face at her absurd questions. Her face turns red with concern, her pale face and freckles taking the color of a beetroot. "Zorry," She mumbles back.

We chat for some more time, talking about anything that comes to mind when another sharp creak from our door diverts our attention from the new topic of how a ghost could be nearly headless

"Hey, Y/n." said a bright voice.

My head whipped around to see Lennon's square-jawed face smiling at me.

"Lennon!" I exclaim as I also pull him into a deep hug. "How are you?"

"Pretty good, I guess. Who's your friend here?" he says, eyeing Skye up and down with an eyebrow raised.

"Oh! This is Skye, she's from Beauxbatons, and Skye, this is Lennon, my friend from the year I got here." I say as the two politely shake hands before Lennon takes an embarrassingly bad attempt at flirting with Skye as he sits down next to her, also shoving his trunk under the cabin seat.

"So, Beauxbatons. I hear that's where the most beautiful come from," he says with a lopsided grin.

I stifle a muffled laugh as I again start to look out the window once more, happy that I'm surrounded by the people I love, ready to start a new year.

A/n: Ok guysss how are we feeling? This is kinda like a filler chapter cause the content comes next so yeah, also lmk if the sizing of the chapter is ok cause I personally think this is good but it's up to yall as long as it's reasonable

Also I completely forgot to mention this but lets just pretend the characters stay 16/17 the entire book cause I don't want them to be like 20 in their 7th year lmao

Please give me ideas and feedback yall want in the book + ideas for the cover! Tysm for reading and I'll see you in the next chapter 😋
