"No way, she actually did that?" I ask with wide eyes as Draco recites his story of Pansy attempting to kiss him a week ago.
"Yeah, insane, I know," he adds, propping his feet on the table as I take a sip of my Butterbeer, enjoying the sickly-sweet, butterscotch-like flavor of the drink. "You have no idea what lengths I had to take to swerve my way out of that one." he finishes with an exaggerated shudder.
"Well, why can't you just tell her to fu-" I begin to ask before I'm cut off by a shrill shriek echoing through the small shop.
"Draco!" Pansy says sweetly in a forced voice, shooting me death glares as she tugs on his arm.
"I was thinking we should go and visit the clothing shop next door, there's a new necklace we should go check out!" She simpers loudly, giving me a back-the-hell-off look as she practically drags him out the door, leaving me sitting alone at the splintery table.
"And you," she hisses, the sweetness gone from her voice as she presses her wand into my ribs, "-should stay away. He's my boyfriend, you prat!"
And just like that, she struts away, Draco nowhere in sight.
"Nothing to see here, folks!" I yell at the other people in the room who are staring before flicking a galleon onto my table and leaving.
Geez, Pansy's possessive. Does it kill her to even consider that maybe Draco doesn't like her back?
Now that I'm alone, I walk slowly across the cobblestone path through the various shops, not needing to worry about Draco's long strides. I head toward a small uninhabited house, wincing at the pain in my right rib when I hear small sobs. Raising an eyebrow at the sudden noise, I head towards it with my wand drawn out of my pocket, but to my surprise, all I see are Ron and Hermoine, neither of them crying.
"Ron, Hermione!" I shout, causing them to snap their heads at me as I put my wand back in my pocket. "Where's Harry? And who's crying?"
Hermione redirects her attention solemnly to a boulder and steps towards it, sticking out her hand.
"Harry?" She whispers, and she pulls off an invisible cloak to reveal Harry tear-stricken.
"Harry?" I ask quietly, studying that face in front of me. "Are you ok?"
He looks up at me, Ron, and Hermione surrounding him, and he looks at Hermione for an extra beat, who communicates with him using a small nod.
"No," He mumbles delicately. "He was their friend."
"He was their friend!" He restates, now shouting, causing me to stumble backward slightly.
"And he betrayed them," He mumbles once more, tears refilling in his eyes.
I kneel in front of him, taking one of his hands in mine, which, to my relief, he allows me to do.
"Who, Harry?"
"Sirius Black, my godfather. I'm going to kill him. He's coming for me, and when he does, I'm going to be ready."
Hermione gasps softly and Ron shifts uncomfortably next to me.
"You don't mean that, right, mate?" Ron asks gingerly, also sitting next to me.
"I do, Ron. I mean every goddamn word."
Wow. Sirius Black the murderer is Harry's godfather? Holy shit, and I thought the biggest of my problems is whether to apologize to Lennon or not.
Even though I still haven't talked to Harry in a while, I pull him into a gentle hug, which he mirrors back, tears soaking into my shirt. I pull back, meeting his red eyes with mine.
"Thanks, Y/n." He rasps quietly.
"You're welcome, Harry. I won't say a word."
I make my way back into the comforting appeal of Hogwarts after my conversation with Harry. I felt like he needed some space with Hermione and Ron, seeing that they're his best friends. As I step into the sleek Slytherin common room, I meet eyes with Lennon, who stands up immediately when he sees me.
I straighten up my posture, crossing my arms over my chest as he walks towards me.
"Y/n," he says weakly with a small smile playing on his lips. "How are you?"
"Oh, I'm fine, because it's not like my best friend yelled at me," I shrug, sarcasm lacing my voice thickly.
"Look, Y/n, I'm sorry. I guess I just wanted to protect you or something. I shouldn't have lashed out, and, well, I miss you." He sighs as he raises his arms halfway into a small hug.
I roll my eyes as I step forward before landing a sharp punch into his chest.
"Ouch, Y/n! What in Merlin's Beard was that for?" He whimpers, rubbing his chest where I punched him.
"For being a scrawny git, that's why!" I shout as I draw him into an actual hug. A true, happy, sweet, hug.
His arms wrap around my shoulders as I smile into his neck, enjoying the familiar company of my best friend.
"Oh, how sveet! Lennon boy and Y/n are friendz again!" Skye squeals as we break apart.
"No, but seriously, Skye, how are you doing that? You can't just enter our common room like that!" I laugh as I give her a small hug too.
"Never mind zat," She scoffs, waving a perfectly manicured hand in my face. "I vill never reveal zee tricks I uze! Now come on, zee feast is starting, and I am zo hungry!" She says eagerly as she urges us to go to dinner.
We make our way to dinner, and the large windows in the Great Hall look frosty with snow, indicating the first snowfall of the year. I sigh contently as the warmth of the candles above gently brush along my arms, and I sit down with Lennon, all traces of an argument with my best friend gone.
A/n: small chapter to kinda take a look at what's happening around Hogwarts as well cause while the story is about Y/n and Draco I don't want it to be solely about them cause we need details
god I hate pansy so much
see you in the next chapter tmrw <3
