It had grown dark, and the four of them were each doing their own thing. Nami, was hunched over the safe, trying to crack it open. Zoro, the swordsman with a penchant for napping, was currently catching some well-deserved rest inside the ship. Luffy, with an unending supply of energy, was hanging upside down from the banister, playfully batting at his straw hat as it dangled above him. And Scarlett was with a blood-streaked knife, was cleaning it off on the deck.
"Can you not do that?" Nami asked, her annoyance clear in her voice. "Sorry. It's hard to sit still," Luffy told her, not bothering to right himself.
Scarlett finished cleaning her knife and made her way to the deck, leaning on the railing as she watched the antics of her crewmates. Luffy, full of energy and brimming with excitement, was a stark contrast to Nami's focused determination. As she watched, Luffy flipped off the banister, catching his hat before it fell into the ocean.
"I'm feeling so...so piratey," Luffy declared, placing his straw hat back on his head.
Nami rolled her eyes, clearly frustrated with the interruption. "Yeah? Well, you're gonna start feeling watery if I have to throw you overboard. I told you I need absolute silence."
Scarlett laughed silently, amused by the dynamic between the two. "Yeah. Well, you're gonna have to find somewhere else to play if you want me to help," Nami added, her frustration growing.
"Is it open yet?" Luffy asked, not hearing Nami's earlier words as she had stopped her attempts at the safe.
"No. And can you please give me some quiet and some space?" Nami replied, pushing Luffy's head away as he leaned in to listen. In doing so, she accidentally knocked his hat off, sending it flying into the wind.
"No!" Luffy yelps. Scarlett quickly caught it before it could fall into the ocean, tossing it back to Luffy.
''Thnx"
"Hey. Not cool. Don't mess with my hat," Luffy scolded, placing it back on his head.
"Why do you care so much about that old thing? It looks like trash," Nami retorted.
"One man's trash is another man's treasure," Luffy quoted, smiling as he adjusted his hat.
"Will you knock it off? I am trying to take a nap," Zoro said from the inside of the cabin.
"Oh, I'm sorry were we interrupting your beauty sleep?" Scarlett asked savagely.
"Don't like what you see, Red riding hood? Look away," Zoro answered with the same tone, causing Scarlett to glare towards the room where he was taking.
Luffy laughed at the exchange. "Did he just call you that?"
But Luffy's laugh faded as he saw a angry expression on Scarlett's face. "Oh, ok never mind," Luffy mumbled, scared.
Nami who had been trying to break into a safe belonging to Morgan, a wealthy and powerful pirate. She finally succeeded and opened the safe, revealing a map and some of Morgan's other prized possessions and successes.
"You did it!" Luffy cheered in a whisper.
Scarlett quickly kneeled down beside Nami and looked into the safe. She sighed out a chuckle and took the map out, closing the safe and popping open a canister that contained the rolled paper. Zoro exited the cabin and joined the three.
Unrolling it, Zoro looked at the map. "That's it? Isn't there supposed to be gold inside a safe? Or jewels?" he asked in monotony.
"This is more valuable than gold. It's knowledge. This is a map to the grand line," Scarlett spoke, looking at the swordsman like he was crazy.
"The grand line. Ah. The grand line is just right..."
"where is it exactly?" Luffy asked, looking at the map with a confused expression.
"You're going there, but you don't know where it is?" Nami raised a brow at the pirate.
"Guess I need a navigator on my crew," Luffy hinted, implying that Nami should join his crew.
______________________________________Nami carefully divided the seas into four quadrants on the map using a piece of chalk. "This thin strip of land that circles the globe is called the red line," she explained, drawing a strip on land in the middle of the circle. "And this band across the middle is the grand line. A treacherous stretch of ocean with bigger islands, bigger cities, bigger pirates. Flush with riches and ripe for the picking."
Scarlett spoke up pressing her finger onto the grand line diagram. "And that's where we're gonna find the one piece."Luffy nodded in agreement.
"I've taken out a lot of pirates looking for that thing." Zoro claimed.
Zoro inquired about the one piece, "What is it? Like, a big diamond or something?"
"It's gold rogers treasures. He hid it somewhere in the grand line. All in one piece," Luffy replied.
Nami replied with a hint of skepticism, "It's a myth. The reason no one's found it in 22 years is that it doesn't exist." She glanced over to Luffy with a look of disbelief, implying his journey would be useless.
"Can't wait to see the look on your face when we find it," Scarlett retorted.
Suddenly, an explosion went off outside, illuminating the captain's quarters in a bright red light. Zoro was quick to ask, "Is that the marines? How did they find us?"
The crew rushed outside, their eyes widening in surprise as they saw the red light form a smoke bowl around them. Another explosion followed, this one a few yards above the first one.
"This smoke smells weird," Nami, the navigator, remarked as she waved her arms around, clearing out a good amount of the smoke with gusts of wind. But the strange smell was too much for her, and she soon collapsed.
Zoro, started to cough, falling down the stairs of the boat stumbling back into the cabin. Scarlett quickly put her knife inside of her left shoe before collapsing. Luffy grabbed the map, determined to keep it safe from whoever was attacking them.
In a desperate move, Luffy shoved the canister containing the map down his throat, keeping it hidden from the ambushers. The air began to fill the cabin, and Luffy pushed himself up, watching out the window as a large ship approached.
A clown-based jolly roger stuck out on the sail, and then it fell dark. Luffy had no idea who these mysterious attackers were, but one thing was for sure, he wasn't going down without a fight.
