The hospital room was quiet, save for the gentle beeping of the heart monitor and the distant murmur of nurses in the hallway. Soft sunlight filtered through the blinds, casting a warm, golden hue over the sterile white walls. Josh sat in a chair beside the bed, his hand gently clasping the tall brunette's. Despite the pallor of illness that had settled over his features, the tall brunette still looked beautiful to Josh-his eyes, though tired, still held the same warmth and kindness that Josh had fallen in love with.
"Hey," the tall brunette said softly, breaking the silence. His voice was weak, but it carried a tenderness that made Josh's heart ache.
"Hey," Josh replied, his voice equally soft. He leaned in closer, brushing a stray lock of hair from the tall brunette's forehead. "How are you feeling?"
The tall brunette gave a small smile, a shadow of his former bright grin. "Tired," he admitted, "but better now that you're here."
Josh's heart swelled with emotion. "I'm always here," he whispered, his thumb gently stroking the back of the tall brunette's hand. "I'm not going anywhere."
They sat in silence for a moment, simply enjoying the closeness, the quiet intimacy of the moment. Josh could feel the fragility of the tall brunette's bones under his fingers, a stark reminder of the battle they were fighting. But he pushed those thoughts aside, focusing instead on the love that filled the room.
"Do you remember the first time we came to this hospital?" the tall brunette asked suddenly, his voice tinged with nostalgia.
Josh nodded, a bittersweet smile playing on his lips. "Yeah, you had that awful fever, and you were so out of it. I was terrified."
"And you stayed with me the whole night," the tall brunette continued, his eyes shining with fondness. "I remember waking up and seeing you asleep in that chair, just like now."
Josh chuckled softly. "Some things never change," he said. "I'd stay with you forever if I could."
The tall brunette's smile faded slightly, replaced by a look of deep emotion. "I know you would," he whispered. "And that means more to me than you'll ever know."
The sadistic blonde felt a lump form in his throat, but he swallowed it down, determined to stay strong for the tall brunette. "Do you remember our first date?" he asked, steering the conversation to happier memories.
The tall brunette's eyes lit up with a spark of joy. "How could I forget? You took me to that little Italian restaurant, the one with terrible service but amazing food."
"And you got spaghetti all over your shirt," Josh added with a laugh. "You were so embarrassed."
"I was mortified," the tall brunette said, laughing along. "But you just laughed and helped me clean it up. That's when I knew you were special."
The sadistic blonde leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss to the tall brunette's forehead. "I knew you were special the moment I saw you," he murmured.
The tall brunette's eyes filled with tears, but he blinked them away, smiling up at Josh. As the evening wore on, Josh climbed into the bed beside the tall brunette, wrapping his arms around him in a tender embrace. The tall brunette nestled against him, resting his head on Josh's chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart. It's been a month and half since the tall brunette was admitted to the hospital. Josh left everything behind and waited patiently with his lover boy. The duo were respectful and matured enough to console each other in such tough times. The doctors were still trying to understand what was the illness that was harming the tall brunette. Each time the reports were showing that everything was fine in his body but his system displayed weakness. He was limping as he walked since the bullet couldn't be removed due to its entanglement with the delicate muscles.
