It had been a month since Sapphire and I began spending time together. The monsoons have arrived, and we are both enjoying hot sweet potatoes while lounging in an abandoned hut away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We could hear the thunderstorm clearly. I wasn't afraid, but Sapphire was terrified of the storm. I wasn't interested in seeing that ridiculous orphanage either. Namjoon hyung also went on a weeklong camping trip because he is in 12th grade this year. I didn't want to confront Madame Jane as well, so I opted to stay at Sapphire's place. Unfortunately, rain began to fall during our stroll in the mountains, and we came to a halt at this withered cottage, but I'm afraid this awful weather will end soon. It's a Sunday tomorrow, so no one will notice my absence in that drab house we called home. I felt glad to be with her. She couldn't see her, but I can, and what I see is the most valuable view to me.
"Koo, are we not going to my place now?" She asks in a sweet, beautiful voice.
"Honey, we'll wait till the weather is good for us to leave. I don't want you to get wet and then get infected by fever or cold. You just recovered from pneumonia."
"Is it so bad outside?" She again questions.
"Yes honey. It is extremely dangerous to move out in such a bad weather. We'll wait till the rain stops then we can head back to your house."
"Okay then we'll wait here. Let's go inside then."
"It's okay, Sapphire; you don't have to worry when I'm beside you. I will defend you from everything, that is my pledge to you. It took a lot of effort for me to come to know you, and I'm so glad I'm with you. You really help me glow." He replied shyly, stroking the back of his head.
"Same here." She stood near the wooden balcony and stretched her hand outside. She relished the raindrops and sprinkled a couple of them on her face.
"You're so intriguing when you giggle like that, Sapphire. I love how the Lord made you. A pure soul like you is entitled to all the happiness in the world. I will do my best to keep you pleased."
"Koo, it's fine. I don't want luxury. I want you to love me completely, the way a woman should be loved. I want you to be honest with me and help me improve. I want your support and genuine love; that's all that will truly make me happy."
"Wait what?" I mean, did you just confess to me? So, do you really want me to love you? Can we date, I mean be lovers right away?"
Sapphire laughs again as she throws water drips at her companion. Jungko0k moved to her side and hugged her hard. He scooped her up in the air and started spinning around in delight. He was on cloud nine because she may have fallen for him now, but he was already in love with her. He simply couldn't articulate it sooner. He was frightened of being rejected and of experiencing grief. He didn't think he had a chance with such a beauty, but guess what? He got lucky this time, and his charity did not go to waste. Since meeting Sapphire, her delicate way of life and humble demeanor transformed him into a responsible and caring gentleman. He changed for his love, and he was pleased with the decision he had adopted in his dismal existence.
