In the year that followed the destruction of Amarantha, courts in Prythian were finally beginning to rebuild what was once reduced to ashes. Flowers began blooming again, the sun shone brighter over the trees, buildings were being rebuilt and the people were starting to move on from the darkness Under The Mountain.
All except (Y/N) who is still struggling to understand and deal with the weight of what happened with Amarantha. The guilt of what she had to do to survive, for her friends to survive is gnawing at her very soul - which now that it is immortal, leaves her to question how to live with her guilt forever or let it slowly kill her.
(Y/N) returns to the Spring Court with Tamlin and Lucien, the rest of their court returning as well. But the sight of the lush grass and garden of the manner only make her stomach churn - it's contrast to the darkness of her former cell making her nauseous. But when she looked to her friends and saw the genuine relief and happiness to be back home, she pushed the feeling down and looped her arms between Tamlin and Lucien as they walked arm in arm to the manner.
"It's good to be home," Tamlin breathed, pulling his friends into a tight embrace. Despite the ruins of the manner from months ago, he smiled. Buildings could be rebuilt easily now that his magic was restored, but what mattered most was having his friends at his side at last - eternity ahead of them.
