Assembly

Their whole school had an assembly that day. At 10:00 everyone filed into the auditorium. Eve and Gemma were happy to missing civics, and chose seats in the back of the room, where nobody would bother them. Or, where nobody should have bothered them. But they weren't that lucky. Danny walked in and plopped himself in the seat right in front of Eve. Eve sighed and he turned around.

"Oh! Hi Eve! I didn't see you there!"

"Uh Huh! You really can't stay away from me can you?!"

He looked offended, "Uh! Excuse you! Not everything is about you! Maybe I just sat here because I want to talk to Gemma!" He turned to Gemma then and asked her how her day was going.

Eve rolled her eyes and took out her phone. She had one new text from her mom:

M: Hi Sweetie! Sorry I didn't come home last night, I was busy with another patient. I hope everything went ok! Love you!

She texted back:

E: hey mom! Everything's fine! Love you too!

She put her phone away as their principal, Mr. Pally, stepped up to the microphone. Danny turned around to face front, but not before casting one last glance at Eve, which she saw. Gemma turned to her.

"Oh my god! He is soooo cute!" She whispered as Mr. Pally droned on about making good life choices. "I know you don't like him, buuuuuut... would it be okay if I like, went for it!?!"

Eve gave her a look of surprise. "Umm, sure? I don't know what you see in him! But you do you!"

"Uhh! This! This is what I see!" She pulls out her phone and shoves it into Eve's face. On it is a picture, posted this morning. It's Danny, just out of the shower, in nothing but plaid pajama bottoms. His hair is still wet, and it's super curly. Droplets of water run down his face, and abs. Oh his abs. He doesn't even look like he's flexing, but there they are. He has a giant smirk on his face like he owns the world and everyone in it should bow to him. Eve swallows a gasp.

"Uh huh." She says, like it's no big deal.

Gemma rolls her eyes at her and puts the phone away. "Seriously, he's hot! Even you have to admit it!"

"No! No I don't!" Eve replies, a little to hurriedly.

"Whatever." Gemma sighs and goes back to paying attention to Mr. Pally. But Eve is too distracted. All she can see is Danny's hair. And she kept kept picturing it wet, and him in those PJ's!!! She couldn't believe that not 3 hours earlier, he had been standing in her bathroom, looking like that. She stared at Danny as the assembly went on, day dreaming about things she shouldn't be. Before she knew it everybody was standing up to go back to class and Eve snapped out of it. Her ears were red with embarrassment, and she looked around to make sure nobody saw.

She caught Danny's eye as she headed down the hallway, and he gave her a grin that could stop armies. She quickly looked away and headed back to class.
