I will be writing from the second point of view from now on. 🖤"Don't fall on your face!"
You felt the air whip past your face as the both of you fell down into nothingness. Then, you were then falling into a similarly designed geisha room with the exception of it being furnished. Daki landed gracefully on her own two feet.
Unfortunately, you did indeed fall on your face.
A few drops of blood fell from your nose and stained the wooden floorboards. Daki recoiled and refused to help you up onto your feet.
"Gyutaro will be busy for a while, so why don't we get you started?" Grabbing your arm, she led you out of her personal geisha room. Peeking out, she continued to lead on when no one was watching.
"Get me started? What game are you playing with me?" Your arm was pulled forward abruptly, an attempt at making you be quiet.
The steam blinded you, but Daki still led you through and into the room. There was a wooden tub filled with fresh, hot water. Several different beauty items had been placed on a tray beside the tub. A bottle of perfume, scented oils, and colored hairpins.
"You've been sleeping for decades. You stink," Daki was quick to undress you, sticking her nose up at the old, outdated clothes. "Plus, men usually love a woman who looks and smells clean."
Thrust into the bathtub, you continued to gawk at the unusual events taking place. Daki was bathing you.
"Why should I care how men feel about me?" you asked, itching to jump out. Although, the hot water was nice. "I don't care—" hot water was poured over your head. Soap burned your eyes and nose.
"I care, because you're going to be working for me! Besides, I also care about what big brother thinks." her fingers were careful to wipe away the soapy water around your eyes. You noticed how she had trimmed her sharp and long nails down to look normal.
Was that to protect you, or just to blend in with humans?
While hard to resist the temptation of running away, you couldn't deny how satisfying it felt to feel all of the dirt and oil leave your body. Now, it felt gross sitting in a dirtied bathtub, but Daki was quick to empty out the water and refill it to be fresh and clean.
"And what does Gyutaro think?" With your hair now being clean, Daki worked a mixture of rice water into each strand. You couldn't believe how you just sat there and let yourself be vulnerable.
"He told me to doll you up. You're lucky that he likes you, otherwise I wouldn't be gentle." After rinsing out your hair, she moved on to draining the bathtub once more.
Scented oils were rubbed into your skin, and Daki finished it off by adding a small amount of perfume to your neck. An elegant kimono was then picked up and placed among your body.
"Ah, good. Those ugly little girls finally got the measurements right this time!"
The kimono fit like a glove, which satisfied Daki but only annoyed you. She applied the perfume to the entire outfit this time. Then, a small makeup set was produced in which she used brushes to apply.
"I don't want makeup put on my face." You protested, leaning away.
Grabbing your jaw, she forced you to lean back forward. Daki began applying a white paste all around your face.
"Fine, I'll go light on the makeup. In this geisha house, you're required to wear something, no matter how beautifully you naturally are." The paste felt cold and sticky. It made your face itch.
When she began applying a light red tint to your lips, both of you heard a knock at the door.
"Oiran Warabihime? Are you almost done?" A small, weak voice called out from the other side.
Daki rolled her eyes.
"Yes. Can you leave us alone, please?"
Both of you heard the small pitter patter of footsteps, and then silence.
"I hate that ugly girl, all she does is cower and whimper like some mouse," pink and orange eyeshadow was applied to your eyelids. You didn't like it, but Daki did. She smiled despite her growing annoyance. "She thinks some wealthy man will buy her out of this house. Nope...you're going to be her replacement, and she'll be my dinner tonight."
You hoped that being her replacement didn't mean you'd be eaten too at some point.
"Now, the tricky part," walking behind you, Daki settled her hands on your damp hair. She carefully brushed out each tangle. "Let's see how easy it is to fit your natural hair under the wig."
She seemed to pleased with the outcome, having fun styling different hairpins throughout the wig. If anything, it made your head feel heavy and itch.
"You should be grateful I did such a good job! Now, you're beautiful! I don't say that very often to anyone either, so..." Daki handed you a mirror, but you didn't really care. You felt uncomfortable with the whole ordeal.
As you were led out of the bathroom, you and Daki passed multiple younger workers. They all cowered when walking past the Oiran, bowing their heads rather out of fear than respect.
"Unlike the other girls, you're only going to talk to men. Big brother said he didn't want anyone touching you. You won't start until tomorrow night anyway." The main mingling area was full of both old and young men, pink in the face as they watched the women. You prayed none of them look your way.
Her breath hit the shell of your ear. Tensing, you prepared for any assault she may give.
"Fret not, but listen to this warning," she grabbed your arm, squeezing it. "Do you see those young men standing in the corner?" Your eyes picked apart the crowd, searching for who she meant.
They were indeed young, no older than twenty five. Their eyes were like snakes, but they picked apart women like vultures. You could feel Daki's rage slip from her body and into yours.
"Those men are samurais. Nasty customers...don't let yourself be alone in a room with either one of them. They won't hesitate to take advantage of you."
And then she left your side, plastering a fake smile on her face as she greeted some of the other surrounding customers.
What had you gotten yourself into?
