Chapters 5

Lupa walks down the stairs past David, and he notices her as she passes him. Then he runs to follow her, and Lupa puts her helmet on the motorbike seat.

"I want to say thank you for saving my life from the bully," David said

Lupa swung her leg over the motorbike and sat in a riding position, then she turned turned to look at him.

"Well, you need to stand up and show how tough you are to them," Lupa said.

Lupa put the helmet on her head, and then he said, " I will try. Can we be friends?" Then Lupa nodded and said "See you tomorrow" closed her visor and switched the engine on. David grinned and said, "See you tomorrow. I will wait for you in front of school".  Then Lupa accelerated slowly to exit the school grounds, then down a row of shops, then over the bridge, under which, is a long river then, along the forest road, through the middle of the trees. Next, she turned downhill by the river following the long and windy road,  arriving at the village. She turned uphill, up a dirt road, and between the trees, there was a log cabin. It was a mixture of brown and green colours and had lots of moss on the roof, with smoke coming from the chimney, and next to the cabin, was a barn and garage together.

Lupa arrived at the barn, switched off the motorbike and took her helmet off her head. She swung her leg up off her motorbike and walked out of the garage, got a hold of the big door and pulled it closed. Then she walked to the cabin and noticed on the cabin's porch,

a man with black hair, in two long braids, and a brown & black, well-worn cowboy hat with a leather strap around it, with eagle's feathers on his hat, a long sleeve shirt with grey & blue and white checked pattern and a brown leather vest with a bolo tie, blue jeans and dirty brown cowboy boots.

His name is Achak, which means "one who is a spiritual guide." Lupa's adopted father.

Lupa said, "Hello, Papa." He sat rocking the chair, with his pipe in his mouth. "Hello, little warrior, how's your day at school?" he replied. Lupa sighed, walked two steps up to the front porch and went and sat next to her father. She said "Well some good but some bad too" He nodded  he said "First you can tell me the good." She turned to look at him, she said " I have one new friend who doesn't care who I am, and who matters. His name is David". "And I joined the cross-country running team. There is an event soon please will you come and watch me?"

He says, " I am impressed with you. I know you don't easily find new friends, but you finally found one. I hope you get more soon, but please be careful not to show them you are stronger." "She says." I will be careful." They both stop talking when a woman exits the open door. She wears a white cotton blouse and light blue jeans. Her hair is black, long and loose hair over her shoulders and she wears a feather in her hair tied at the top, and a tribal necklace.

Her name is Lomasi, which means "pretty flower."Lupa's adopted mother.

Lupa says "Hello mama". And Lomasi says "Hello sweet"

She is holding a tray of homemade juice and also puts a homemade cookie on the table. Then, she sits next to Lupa and hugs her. She says, "I am proud of you." Lupa giggles.

Lupa sighed. " I almost broke someone's wrist in lunch because he was bullying my new friend, and he tried to choke him and also pour his drink over his head, but luckily I grabbed him and made him stop.

Her mother says, " he is an idiot; you are not scared of him. Luckily you are safe. I hope they won't do it again to your friend because he needs you. "

Lupa nodded. Her mother said, " Well, your favourite dinner is chicken soup and homemade bread" Lupa grinned and hugged her mama back. Then Mama stood up, walked off to make dinner, and now back to Lupa and her father.

" Can I ask you about one person in my school? I think he is a wolf, the same as me." Lupa says

" What does he look like, and how did you notice he is wolf?" He says

"He has a scar across his nose and also his eyebrow like mine, and he has golden eyes like I have never seen before. And the time, when I sorted my locker, I sensed that I was not alone. I saw him walk past me. He glanced at me then. My eyes glowed the same as his when we passed each other. His name is Noah."

Her father says, " Well your soul gives you a guide. He gives good spirit through your heart" he points to her heart and says "Protect your guardian"
