Chapter 8: Cold Encounters

Grayson, Gardevoir, and Retrospector arrive in what looks to be a war Battlefield, with trenches, barbed wire, piles of stuff for cover, and mines
Gardevoir: What is this place...?
Grayson: No idea. Some kind of battle or war must have happened here
Retrospecter: Who could this Corrupted Monster be...?
They all wonder as they look around the area
Grayson shouts to the others
Grayson: Careful, there's landmines here...
The other two nod as they move slowly through the field
Gardevoir looks behind a pile of stuff
Gardevoir: There's some guns and explosives over here
Grayson and Retrospecter head over to Gardevoir
There was machine guns, pistols, Grenades, and landmines
Grayson notices it was a Corrupted Weapon, something that would be useful against the boss
Grayson picks up the guns and checks their ammo
Grayson: Just a few clips. See if you guys can find anymore ammo
???: That won't be necessary...
A female voice comes from behind them
The three spin around and their hearts drop
It was a Corrupted Ash, and a Corrupted Ash would he even tougher than the original...
Corrupted Ash leans a machine gun on her shoulder with a sinister smile
Corrupted Ash: You three won't be a challenge either way. If you stand still, this will be easy for both of us😉
Grayson glances at his Allies
They nod at him with determination as he nods back and the three get ready to fight
Grayson: Sorry, miss, but that's not how we roll😎
Corrupted Ash looks intrigued
Corrupted Ash: Huh. Finally I get a group that knows how to have some fun😈
Corrupted Ash cocks her Machine gun and spins it around, ready to fire
The four just stare at each other, waiting for the other to move

The three dodge in different directions
Grayson lands beside Gardevoir
Grayson: *speaking low* I'll distract her. You and Retro get the explosives and weapons
Gardevoir nods and gets Retro as they rush to the weapons
Corrupted Ash shoots at Grayson
Grayson dodges to the side
Corrupted Ash pulls out her Machete, whirling it around while she speaks
Corrupted Ash: My master told me about you. Sounds like you're the real deal😉
Grayson smiles and pulls out his two Wolf swords, whirling them around
Grayson: You bet😎 You want a challenge? I'm your guy and wolf😉
Corrupted Ash: Guess it's my lucky day then, huh?😈
Corrupted Ash sharpens her Machete, making it more deadly than it was...
???: Not quite😎
Corrupted Ash spins around to see Gardevoir as she throws a landmine at her
Corrupted Ash gets blasted
She rolls on the ground but gets back up, dusting herself off
Gardevoir and Retrospector stand beside Grayson
Corrupted Ash: Not bad! But we're just getting warmed up!
Corrupted Ash leaps toward the group and slashes at them
Everyone dodges in a different direction again
Grayson blasts Corrupted Ash's back with a Fire Blast

Corrupted Ash is knocked back with every attack and is hit to the ground before getting up
Corrupted Ash: Guess I underestimated you three. Then again, you tend to do that after killing countless souls
Grayson: Well, that ends here
Corrupted Ash: Likely story. I'll admit you three are the most challenging yet, but you're still no match against me😈
Grayson: We'll see about that...
Grayson leaps forward and punches Corrupted Ash as she flies backwards and lands on the ground

A column of brown rock hits Corrupted Ash into the air and back onto the ground

Corrupted Ash: *Grunts in pain* You three are gonna be a pain...
Corrupted Ash jumps up and reapplies her Corrupted Shield and pulls out her Shotguns while unleashing a Barrage of shells on the group
The three rush away from Ash and duck behind cover
Corrupted Ash starts walking closer to the three
The group look around for weapons
Grayson doesn't see anything and neither does Gardevoir
Retrospecter spots another land mine, but Corrupted Ash will definitely see him if he goes now
He signals to the other two where the land mine is with his tail and the two understand what they need to do
The two nod at each other
Gardevoir points to something on the other side of Grayson and his cover
He looked to see Corrupted Ash just a few feet away from him, about to check behind Graysons cover
Grayson does a sick maneuver where he spins his feet around to do a sort of Windmill dancing trick to strike Corrupted Ash across the face with his boot
He jumps up and over his cover and kicks Corrupted Ash back
Retrospecter makes a run for the mine
Corrupted Ash: You got some massive guts to attack a Corrupted Monster while their invincible. It'll be nice to see them all over the ground, leaking lead😎
Grayson: You never run out of threats, do you?
Corrupted Ash: Nope😊 Isn't this what your Ash does?
Graysons about to protest before he stops and thinks about it and realizes Ash is pretty cocky like that😂
Grayson: Ok, I'll give you that one.
Corrupted Ash: Ha! In return, I'll give you some shells to the face😈
Corrupted Ash points her Shotguns forward and blasts Grayson
Grayson dodges easily
Corrupted Ash: Gah! Stand still, you!
Corrupted Ash repeatedly shoots at Grayson, repeatedly missing as Grayson quickly jumps and spins around to avoid the attack
Corrupted Ash yells in rage as she throws her Shotguns on the ground and rushes Grayson when she gets blasted by another landmine from the right
Grayson looks to see Retrospecter giving him a thumbs up as Grayson does the same back
Retrospecter and Gardevoir stand beside Grayson as Corrupted Ash gets to her feet
Corrupted Ash: You know, I'm getting really tired of this REALLY fast...
Corrupted Ash pulls out her Machine Gun and loads and cocks it and spins it around for style points
Corrupted Ash:...Im finishing this NOW!
Grayson: I'd like to see you try😎
Corrupted Ash scowls but soon smiles evily
Corrupted Ash: As you wish...
Corrupted Ash fires at the three as they dodge in different different directions
Gardevoir uses Energy Ball

Corrupted Ash growls, but then Retrospecter Smacks her in the back with his Dragon Tail
Corrupted Ash goes flying and crashes and rolls on the ground

The three stand together
Corrupted Ash was hit so hard from Graysons Thunderstrike that she lay in a crater, a column of smoke coming from it
Corrupted Ash emerges from the pit and smoke, holding her arm in pain
Corrupted Ash: *Grunts in pain and growls* THATS IT! IM NOT LOSING TO YOU FOOLS! YOU WILL BURN IN HELL!!!
Corrupted Ash takes out a detonator looking device and clicks it
The three look around, confused
Nothing happened?
They assumed the explosives Ash was trying to set off didn't go off, but then they started hearing planes and jets in the distance...
They looked up and around to see dozens of military planes and jets flying towards them
Grayson: Shit!
Corrupted Ash laughs maniacally as the planes get closer
Corrupted Ash: Rest in pieces😉
Dozens of airsrike bombs fall from the planes
Grayson: Get to cover!
The three start to run when Ash grabs Graysons arm and throws him to the ground behind her
Gardevoir holds out her hand
Gardevoir: Grayson!!!
Retrospecter puts his arms around Gardevoir
Retrospecter: Come on!!
Gardevoir: But Grayson!!
Retrospecter: He'll be fine! But he won't if you or I die. Get down!!
Retrospecter tackles Gardevoir behind some cover
Retrospector: Fight hard, little man!
Corrupted Ash pulls put two Machetes and scrapes them against each other
Corrupted Ash: Oh, how I've waited for this😈 Once I kill you and your friends, I'll get a huge promotion from the boss, and nothing will stop me!!!
Corrupted Ash reapplies her shield and leaps forward
Grayson rolls to the side and get up as Corrupted Ash stabs the ground
Corrupted Ash rips her Machetes out of the ground and repeatedly slashes at Grayson
Grayson continues to dodge, but know he can't keep this up
But then he gets and idea
He dual wields his Wolf Swords and counters Ash and pushes her away
He quickly looks around to see the pattern of the airsrike bomb rain
He gets a plan
Grayson challenges Ash
Corrupted Ash growls and yells and dashes toward Grayson with immense speed
Grayson dodges to the side and sword fights Ash
Grayson easily knocks the Machetes out of Ashs hands and kicks her right under an airstrike bomb as she gets blasted with it
A Pillar of smoke rises from the pit she's in
Corrupted Ash slowly crawls out of the pit and shakily gets up
Corrupted Ash grunts in pain and looks up at Grayson with blazing eyes
Corrupted Ash growls and screams in anger
Corrupted Ash: YOURE DEAD!!!
Corrupted Ash pulls out her Swords and dashes toward Grayson as the two continue to swordfight
Grayson kicks Ash across the face as she twists in the air and lands on the ground

Corrupted Ash kicks Grayson across the sides of his face and slashes him upwards with her sword as Grayson lands on the ground

Corrupted Ash goes to impale Graysons stomach
Grayson goes to dodge, but his bleeding stops him as Ash outspeeds him and stabs his stomach

Corrupted Ash: Have fun burning in hell, rat😈
Grayson scowls at Ash
Grayson: You too😡
Grayson whips out his Shotgun and blasts Ashs face

Ash is knocked back far as she rolls on the ground and hold her face, screaming in pain
She's completely blind
Grayson is bleeding out
Grayson❤💔20%💔💔
Grayson tries to move but Ashs sword had pinned him to the ground
He looks up and sees theirs a bomb heading straight for him
He looks at Ash to see her lying on the ground with bombs coming near her as well
Grayson stares up at his inevitable doom
Tears rolling down Graysons face
Grayson: I did what I could...stay safe guys. Im sorry...
Grayson closes his eyes as he and Ash get blasted by bombs
The airplanes and jets fly away
Dust and smoke surround the area
Gardevoir and Retrospector come out from their cover
Gardevoir: *coughs from the dust and smoke* Is it over...? Did we do it...?
Retrospecter: Grayson?? You around, little man??
The smoke and dust clears
Gardevoir: Grayson?? Are yo-
Gardevoir stops when she spots Graysons Wolf General Cap lying on the ground, torn up and on fire slightly, lying beside a sword with a lot of blood on it, Graysons Swords which are beat up with scrapes and scratches, and Graysons Shotgun, lying on the ground on its side with some blood on the end of the barrel
Gardevoir: *gasps* No....it can't....
Retrospecter looks where Gardevoir is looking and is shocked
Retrospecter: No...
Gardevoir and Retrospector walk over to the items
Gardevoir falls to her knees
Gardevoir tears up
Gardevoir: Please....this cant....*sniffles*...happen
Retrospecter kneels beside Gardevoir and puts his claw on her shoulder
Gardevoir breaks down in tears and covers her face
Gardevoir: *sniffles* Is he really.....*cries*
Retrospecter: I....I don't know, Gar...
Gardevoir: I should've done something...
Retrospecter: There was nothing we could do without killing ourselves. As much as I hate to lose someone, especially him, you and me both know the rules
Gardevoir sniffles and wipes her tears
Gardevoir: Yeah...
Retrospecter hugs Gardevoir
Retrospecter: I'm sorry, Gar
Gardevoir squeezes Retrospecter
Gardevoir: It's not your fault, hun. I just...*sniffles* Why....him...?
Gardevoir cries while Retrospecter holds her, comforting her
Retrospecter notices something shining in the soil
He looks closely and realizes it's a red Corrupted heart gem
Retrospecter helps Gardevoir calm down
Retrospecter: Feeling better?
Gardevoir: Yeah... Not by much...
Retrospecter looks down and puts his hand in his pockets
Retrospecter: Yeah, these things are always tough, but we'll keep moving, just like he would want us to😊👍
Gardevoir looks up at Retrospecter and smiles and holds his hand with both of hers
Gardevoir: Thank you, Retro. I'm glad I still have you😊
Retrospecter quickly blushes
Retrospecter: Uh...dont mention it....really it was nothing😅
Gardevoir cover her mouth and giggles and blushes
Retrospecter scratches his head and clears his throat
Retrospecter: Anyways, found the gem she dropped over there
Retrospecter points behind Gardevoir and she looks behind her  and spots the glowing gem
Gardevoir: Oh! Neat!
Gardevoir walks over to the gem and collects it
The door they entered from appeared in front of them
Retrospecter put his claw on Gardevoir shoulder
Retrospecter: Ready to go?
Gardevoir looks back at Graysons stuff, remembering all the memories she had with him
Gardevoir nods
Gardevoir: Yeah, let's go
Retrospecter nods as Gardevoir inserts the gem in the door and they arrive back in the Backrooms and the boss door dissappears
Retrospecter: Alright, let's keep moving
Gardevoir: Right.
Retrospecter and Gardevoir walk forward, looking for gems and their friends, hoping they're still alive...
