Benjamin's smirk was unmistakable. "So, you like her?" he teased, his voice dripping with amusement.

Nathan's eyes flashed with irritation. "For the umpteenth time, no! I just took her case because I felt responsible for what happened to her."

Benjamin chuckled. "Save it, Nate. You can't fool me. She's gorgeous, and you're hooked."

Just then, Alaya walked in, her pink woolen dress and white shirt underneath a stunning combination. Nathan's heart skipped a beat.

"Finally decided to show up, Alaya?" Nathan said, trying to sound nonchalant despite his racing pulse. "I called you an hour ago."

Alaya's eyes narrowed, her gaze piercing. "I was printing the case files you asked for," she retorted, dumping the papers on his desk. "You know, the ones you said were urgent?"

Benjamin snickered, clearly entertained by the exchange. "Hey, Alaya, I'm Benjamin, Nathan's partner in crime."

Alaya smiled, her eyes sparkling, and shook his hand. Nathan watched, his breath catching in his throat as her glance met his. It was as if time froze, and all he could do was stare.

He felt like he was drowning in her natural beauty, his senses overwhelmed by her presence. Even her subtle glances left him breathless, his heart racing like a wild animal. He couldn't explain why, but every moment with Alaya was like a slow-burning fire, consuming him from the inside out.

Dang. She's so beautiful.

Wait- why is that my concern?

Nathan hold your horses, she's just an employee.

Alaya was wearing a pink woolen dress with a white shirt underneath and she was looking so beautiful, so feminine. He was smitten by her fashion sense.

Benjamin's voice broke the spell, and Nathan forced himself to look away, trying to compose his racing thoughts. "So, Alaya, what do you think of our humble abode?" Benjamin asked, gesturing to their cluttered office.

Alaya's laughter was like music, and Nathan's heart skipped another beat. "It's...cozy, sir," she said, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "I like the way you've decorated it with piles of paperwork and abandoned coffee cups."

Nathan rolled his eyes, trying to hide his smile. "Hey, that's Benjamin's doing. I'm the tidy one."

Alaya raised an eyebrow. "Really, sir? I wouldn't have guessed."

Benjamin chuckled. "Nathan's just mad because I won the last 'who can leave the most coffee cups on their desk' contest."

Nathan shot him a glare, but Alaya's gaze lingered on him, her expression softening. For a moment, they just looked at each other, the tension between them palpable.

Then, Alaya broke the silence, her voice husky. "So, sir, what's the plan for my case?"

Nathan cleared his throat, trying to focus. "I've been going over the evidence, and I think we have a good chance of winning. But I need you to—"
