Meanwhile, it was morning in Auradon, and a fencing duel was taking place in the castle of the Kingdom of Dreams, Cinderella's realm. The participants were a young girl dressed in a blue outfit with a skirt, and an azure jacket on top. Her face was covered by a mask to protect against possible sword strikes, with only her curly blonde hair peeking out.
Her opponent, on the other hand, wore a completely white royal suit and also had a mask to protect his face, with black hair spilling out. The girl was determined and focused, demonstrating great skill and dexterity with the sword. The man, on the other side, proved to be an experienced opponent, but he wasn't there to win. His goal was clearly to teach and encourage the young trainee, helping her to improve her skills.
The duel was carefully choreographed, displaying a series of strikes, parries, and dodges that highlighted the abilities of both challengers. The duel culminated with the young girl successfully disarming her opponent, showing how much she had grown and improved.
"Too slow!" exclaimed the enthusiastic girl as she removed her mask. "No..." replied the opponent. "I won," the girl said happily, but the man, still masked, took advantage of the respite to disarm her and point the sword a few inches from her throat. "Bet you didn't see this coming," he said. The girl looked at the masked man with a bored expression, "That's not fair, father."
The man removed his mask, revealing the face of King Charming, who was instructing his daughter in swordplay. "Don't be so serious, Chloe. We enrolled you in the swords and shields course because it should be fun."
"Well, it is, but in a duel, I don't feel like just a contender; I represent the entire realm," Chloe said, placing her sword in the scabbard at her left side. "You sound just like your mother," the two looked at each other, smiling.
Seated by one of the central fountains in the royal garden was Cinderella, watching the duel between her husband and daughter. "Don't listen to your father," she said, standing up. Chloe was a perfect mix of her parents' traits; she had blonde hair like her mother, but darker, leaning towards brown like her father's, her eyes were dark like the king's, and her lips were full and rosy like the queen's.
"I never cared what others thought," Cinderella said as she approached them. "Well, I have the charm of King Charming," her husband retorted. "Oh, that's debatable," Cinderella replied, smiling.
The king took his wife's hand and bowed to place a soft kiss on it. Cinderella began to sing, and Chloe stood still, looking horrified. "Can you not?" she said.
"Don't make that face, this was the first song I danced with your mother to when we were still in school," said the king, dancing with Cinderella. "We fell in love at Castle-coming."
"Yes, I know, you always tell me, and I also know everything is great between you two. But now, enough," said Chloe, fed up. "And it's a stroke of luck, or we wouldn't have been able to create this incredible family. I have two wonderful children: you, who will be a student at Auradon Prep starting tomorrow, and your brother Chad, who studies at Auradon's great university," Cinderella said, stopping the dance.
"Did you pack last night, right?" she asked her daughter with a smile. "Do you have room for another pair of shoes?" A butler descended the castle stairs carrying a large blue box, approached the royal family, and stopped in front of Chloe. Cinderella untied the blue ribbon sealing the gift, revealing a pair of high-heeled boots.
"No way, Mom, I can't believe it. They're like your glass slippers but way more stylish," Chloe said, ecstatic. "You earned them," replied her mother, happy for her daughter's joy. "You got top marks," she continued. "You also did charity work for Auradon's historical society," added the king. "And what makes me most proud is that you're a good person, Chloe. That's what makes you a great princess, and someday, a great queen," the queen concluded.
"I have to tell my friends right away, I can't believe it, Mom, thank you, thank you, thank you," Chloe exclaimed.
