A young couple, after a storm, without money or belongings, decide to settle in an old, dilapidated house atop a tree near the dark forest along with their newborn child. Little by little, the family begins to fix up the run-down shelter, but one night they are attacked by two ferocious eels that infested the waters of the black lagoon, killing the child's parents. Left an orphan, the newborn is found by the gorilla Kala, who had just lost her own baby. Feeling an immediate bond, Kala decides to adopt the child despite the reluctance of the pack's leader, Kerchak. She names him Tarzan and raises him as her own, with the other gorillas deciding from that day to terrify anyone who ventured near the forest to protect the new arrival.
Tarzan grows into a strong and skilled young man, learning to move swiftly among the trees and survive in the jungle. Despite his efforts, though, he feels different from the other gorillas and struggles to gain Kerchak's acceptance.
One day, everything changes when a nearby magician decides to raise the walls of a large building and call it Merlin Academy. Soon, it was populated by many students, including Jane Porter, a curious and brave young girl, forced to study there due to her father's work, Professor Archimedes Porter.
At first, Jane hated the idea of being confined in a place surrounded by snobbish people, and one day she decided to explore the forest to read a book in peace, isolated from everyone. But suddenly, she is attacked by a group of baboons who try to steal the book she was reading. Jane tries to run away, but the baboons chase her faster and faster, and she finds herself in danger as she races through the dense forest.
Just when it seems like there's no escape, Tarzan, who has been watching from afar, intervenes. With incredible agility and speed, Tarzan swings through the trees, leaping and swinging from branches with innate grace. In a heroic moment, he takes Jane in his arms and carries her to safety, far from the baboons.
Once in a quiet place, Jane is still very shaken from the experience. Tarzan, curious and amazed to find himself face to face with another human being for the first time, slowly approaches her. Tarzan is fascinated by Jane, especially by the fact that their hands are alike. He gently takes Jane's hand and compares it to his, placing them palm to palm, marveling at the similarities.
Jane is visibly confused and frightened, but also surprised by Tarzan's kindness and innocence. She tries to communicate with him, but Tarzan doesn't speak her language, so the only thing he can do is observe her with great curiosity. It's a moment of pure discovery for both of them: Tarzan sees someone like him for the first time, and Jane comes face to face with a human being who lives like an animal in the jungle.
Protective and sure, Tarzan brings Jane to safety, and from then on, the two develop a deep bond based on mutual learning. Jane decides to secretly meet Tarzan early in the morning when all her classmates are asleep and no one can see her. She goes into the forest to teach Tarzan how to speak and introduces him to the human world and its culture through books she borrows from the school library. At the same time, Tarzan shows Jane the beauty and wonders of the jungle, introducing her to his gorilla family and his way of life.
