EPILOGUE
——————————A peaceful and joyous feeling wrapped around your heart while you walked hand-in-hand with your boyfriend as you both strolled through the busy street of the city, filled with the sounds of people buzzing and various magical abilities displayed.
"...And then they both fell at the river!" You chattered, letting out a soft laugh as you remembered that specific moment a few days ago when you hanged out with your friends. "Mash wasn't paying attention and thought they did it on purpose, and guess what he did?"
Rayne glanced at you with a small smile, quietly enjoying the cheerful expression on your face as you two walked. He hummed in response, "Hmm?"
"He also jumped in— Oh, that was close." You quickly halted on your steps, almost colliding with the little girl that stood in the middle of the street. Fear and nervousness was evident on her face, and with the way she constantly looked around, it was obvious that she was lost.
It felt like you've seen her somewhere before, but couldn't really pinpoint where. "Are you alright? Looking for your parents?" You softly asked, careful not to scare her.
The girl jolted and stepped away a bit when she noticed you and your companion, but then seeing your face, her eyes widened before she went closer and tugged on your shirt. "I can't find my mommy!"
You looked at Rayne worriedly, who nodded at you in acknowledgement as he understood right away what was on your mind. And as a Divine Visionary, he also couldn't just leave a lost little girl alone.
Crouching down, you placed a hand on top of the girl's head as you gave her a smile. "Don't worry, we can find her together. What's your name?"
"M-Mina..."
You nodded. "Do you remember where you last saw your mom? And how she looks like?"
"There were many tasty food. She was buying (Favorite Snack) because Daddy likes it. Mom was... wearing a pink dress." Mina nervously answered, her gaze then glancing towards the man beside you that made her yelp. "S..Scary..."
You were confused at her sudden reaction first, but as you turned back to see your boyfriend with his usual natural disinterested look, you can't help but chuckle, realizing that it was a scary expression for the little girl. "Rayne, smile a little."
"But if she's buying (Favorite Snack), then I think I know where we can find her." You stood up, offering your hand to Mina so she could hold onto you. There was only one shop in that city that sold the delicacy, so you figured where the mother would likely be. You only hoped that it hasn't been long, and that she was still around there.
It didn't take too much time to find the place, but the little girl said that none of the people around was her mother. She may have been searching around too, and if that was the case, the best choice was to stay where her mother last saw the girl, since you figured that the mother would likely go back to check the area again.
"Let's wait here for a bit. Are you hungry?" You smiled gently as you looked at Mina, who was tightly holding onto your hand as if afraid that she'd get lost again if she didn't. She sheepishly nodded and pointed at a stall with her free hand.
You and Rayne turned to where she was pointing at, and just as you were about to react, the Divine Visionary suddenly spoke, keeping his voice low and as soft as possible.
"Alright, I'll go buy some for us." He uttered, not waiting for a reply before heading to buy some pastry from the stall.
The action made you smile, and you could feel your heart fluttering as you discovered another side of him. You admired how he was trying to make sure that the little girl would feel at ease with him. It was nice knowing that he had such soft spot.
