Vanya Martin never got anything easy in life. There was no living for her, there was only surviving. Only her aunt and cousin knew about her past, and she intended to keep it that way. An orphaned girl, once in and out of foster homes, finds home with her cousin and best friend Tory.
Her goals were to stay alive, provide, protect, and keeping her head up high. She had experienced more pain in her sixteen years of life than most ever experience in a lifetime. More than anything, she was completely unexplainable. She was everything, while she believed she was nothing. She's funny, she's brave, she's honest, she's kind, and you'll never know what she will do next. You think that you know all there is all to know about her the moment you meet her, but everything you may first think of her is wrong.
She was the kind of person who took care of things by herself. She would never ask anybody for advice or help. It was not a matter of pride. It was natural to her. All she was growing up was alone, so she had grown used to it and loneliness became a close friend. She was a child that was forced to grow up, a childhood was something Vanya never had. Fire was in her blood and ice was in her soul.
