As the first light of dawn begins to break, the horizon is painted with a palette of soft pastels. The sky transitions from deep indigo to hues of pink, orange, and gold. The sun slowly rises, casting a gentle glow over the landscape, and as its rays touch the earth, everything comes to life. Trees and flowers are bathed in a warm, golden light, and the morning dew sparkles like tiny diamonds. The air is crisp and fresh, filled with the promise of a new day. Birds begin to sing, their melodies harmonizing with the peaceful beauty of the sunrise, making my morning run absolutely tranquil.
My feet hit the wet sand, splashing water around me as I ran on the beach. I didn't know why but running always cleared my mind and calmed me. Maybe it really was the pumping up of my endorphins, but I had a feeling it was something else too. Music was still blasting in my ears as I stopped and stared at the horizon. I lean my head back, taking in the fresh, sea breath.
I opened my eyes and went into first position. One of my first sensei had taught me ballet in order to strengthen my moves and make a movement even smoother. It also helped my balance very much, and sometimes I was able to transition some of the things I learned from ballet into karate. Now I often did it to warm up my body and make sure that I still practiced, not wanting to lose the abilities I worked so hard for.
Pushing buttons on my phone, I switched to a more peaceful song. I closed my eyes once more and let the music take over me. When I opened them again, the sun was fully up and I looked at the time. The bus would be leaving somewhat soon, meaning that I needed to get back to my room. I picked my phone back up and started jogging back to the hotel. Seeing movement out of the corner of my eye, I turn but don't see anything so I ignore it and keep going.
Tory was putting on her karategi when I got back, so I did the same. Then, I brushed my teeth and we did each other's hair. "I grabbed you an apple from breakfast. I know you don't usually eat breakfast but you probably should start in order to get some kind of energy."
I thank her and begin to eat it as I go to open the door, hearing someone knock. It was the rest of our team. Kwon nods his head down the hall, telling us it was time to get on the bus. We walk in silence until we get to the bus, I sit next to Tory. I lean my head on her shoulder and she leans her head against my own. It was almost peaceful. Like nothing was different. Like nothing had changed.
My first event in the bo staff. I easily took the other girl down, taking her own staff while doing so and beating her with her. My next event was a fight with the Zara girl, whom I take the win, without her even getting a point on me. I didn't like her. Especially the way she talked to Tory and the rest of my friends. After that, I looked around until it was time for Sam's fight.
