The next morning when we woke up, we ate a snack and drank some water then we packed everything up and began walking. "Milo!" We both shouted. We were shouting for what felt like hours, but we got no response. As we walked deeper and deeper into the woods, we saw what looked like Milo Walk into a cabin. Slowly we walked up the stairs and into the cabin when all a sudden an axe swung out from behind the door and into the wall beside me. I stood in shock as I saw Jen coming from behind the door. I spotted Milo tied up in the corner of the cabin. "Im so sorry." Jen said as she pulled the axe out of the door. I slightly glanced over at Nolan. Jen slowly started walking towards Milo, at that point I had already known what Jen was going to do so I grabbed a piece of broken glass from the floor and charged at Jen. She quickly turned and swung the axe at me but she missed. I hurried and stabbed Jen in the shoulder with the sharp point of the glass. I then ran to Milo and quickly started to untie him. Jen ripped the glass from her shoulder and started heading for the axe. As Nolan ran to stop her from grabbing the axe she quickly turned around and stabbed Nolan in the side with the glass. After I untied Milo, I noticed a pipe on the ground. Just as Jen went to swing the axe at Nolan, I hit her in the back of the head, and she fell to the ground. Nolan struggled to stand up as the blood from his side dripped onto the wooden floor. I quickly grabbed the first aid kit from my bag and wrapped up Nolan's side. Me and Milo helped Nolan Walk and we hurried out of the cabin. We walked for hours until Nolan's side started to bleed through the bandages. We stopped walking for the night so I could help clean and bandage Nolan's side. Me and Milo helped set up the tents. "Where's William?" Milo asked as he tried to catch his breath. Me and Nolan stared at each other, staying quiet. "No, he's not dead!" Milo shouted at us. "We saw his body." Nolan said back to him. "That bitch!" Milo shouted. After a while we each went into our tents and changed our clothes. Then we went down to the river and began to rinse our clothes. After we were done, we began to head back to our tents. Nolan grabbed string from his bag and handed it to Milo. "Hang it across the trees." Nolan said as he pointed to two trees. Milo took the string and tied it around the trees, then we all grabbed our wet clothes and hung them up to dry. Later that night Milo went to bed as me and Nolan sat by the fire. "You okay?" Nolan asked as he looked over at me. "Yeah, I'm fine." I said back as I moved my hands back from the bright orange flames. "You know after you left, I had no one." I said as I looked away from Nolan. "I left for a reason." Nolan said back. "We were supposed to be there for each other!" I shouted at him. "I had no choice but to leave after everything that happened to us. I got told I either went to live with my grandma or I went to fucking foster care!" Nolan shouted back. I watched as Nolan stood up and walked to his tent. I stayed up just staring at the bright flames, I couldn't help but feel like a terrible person. The wind started to pick up and I began to shiver. I watched as Milo walked out of his tent and grabbed a hoodie out of his bag and put it on. "Go to sleep." Milo said as he tossed me his extra hoodie. "I thought you were going to

sleep." I said back as I put the hoodie on. "Don't worry about me." Milo said as he walked back into his tent. Nolan's mom and dad had always beat the shit out of Nolan that's why he always came to school with bruises. I still remember the day I was called down to the office because Nolan tried to take his life. I will never forget that day. All I could do was pray that he was going to be okay because Nolan's mom wouldn't let me see him. His mom always hated me because I was the reason they almost went to jail. You see after I started noticing bruises on Nolan I went to one of the teachers and they called the police but of course they played it off. I knew she hated me after that because once the police left his mom slapped me across the face and told me to stay away from her fucking family. That day when I got home, I told my mom what had happened and all she said was "Did you learn your lesson?" I was 9 and Nolan was 10. My mom knew what was happening when I went to Nolan's house and came home with bruises, but she still made me go to his house on days she had to work. My mom stopped caring about me after my dad left and my sister passed away. It didn't help that she was drunk most of the time. I tried telling my dad what was happening the night he came to get the rest of his stuff, but he didn't believe me. That night after my dad left my mother got really drunk and grabbed me by the wrist and locked me in my room for 2 days straight without food or water for telling him. After about an hour of staring at the night sky I went to my tent and went to sleep but when I woke up, I was somewhere different. My vision was blurry, and my ears were ringing. I tried moving but I couldn't and that's when I looked down and saw I was tied to a chair. "So, you are all alone, too bad no one cares." Jen muttered. "I almost feel sorry for you." Jen said as she walked over and ripped the tape off my mouth. I stayed quiet, it felt like I had given up, like I had known that this would be the moment I would die. "Damn, no wonder your mom liked me more than you." Jen said as she walked towards a can of gasoline. "Bitch." I mumbled. Jen quickly walked over to me and slapped me across my face. "I don't blame your mom for dropping you off at Nolan's to get the shit beaten out of you!" Jen shouted in my face. "How do you know about that?" I asked quietly. "Are you kidding me right now? Who do you think was at your house hanging out with your mom, making cookies, and watching movies while you were at Nolan's getting the shit beaten out of you." Jen said as she crossed her arms while grinning at me. As Jen walked towards the cabin door, I managed to get the pocketknife from the hoodie Milo let me borrow. How could she be so stupid to not check my pockets? Matter of fact, how could she not see it in my pocket? It didn't matter though, the only thing that mattered was that I was going to survive. I untied myself using the knife and wasted no time to grab the axe from behind me. "You're going to die alone." Jen said, just nearly whispering it. I swung the axe at her, but she caught it. Jen swung the axe at my side causing me to drop to my knees as the blood poured from my side. I grabbed Jen by the feet as she took a step back causing her to trip. The axe fell to the ground. I hurried to grab it, swinging it at her neck until her head was detached from her neck. My side was still pouring blood. I slowly walked out of the cabin. "Ally!" Nolan and Milo shouted in the distance. "Nolan..." I tried shouting but I could barely speak. My hands were shaking, vision blurring as I just barely made it down the steps. I collapsed to the ground unable to move or speak, every breath was worse than the last. The fading sound of Nolan and Milo yelling my name. The blurriness became darkness and the yelling became silent.
